Hold on. You've set up gaps based on the 14.65 mile segment, but we're racing for approx 15.3 miles and yet you're now proposing to make the gaps SMALLER?
If we keep the gaps as they satnd, and CCC never get caught at all - or don't look likely to get caught - the race becomes a bit boring really doesn't it?
I didn't really "set up" time gaps - I showed what they were for the segment (which, yes, is around a kilometere shorter than the meetup) and said we could just use those for simplicity, but invited comments for any amendments. And I think there's a good case for reducing thetime gap having considered those comments. This isn't an exact science, so there's a bit of guesswork going on here.Hold on. Just pedal harder then!If we keep the gaps as they satnd, and CCC never get caught at all - or don't look likely to get caught - the race becomes a bit boring really doesn't it?
Same as the last Cyclechat HnH, where CCC get passed at halfway, and roll in over the line 5 minutes down and everyone else has logged of and gone to get a showerWhat's the worst that can happen?
You mean this last Cyclechat HnH race, where the top 5 included riders from A, B & C groups, with a C rider in 5th, 5 seconds behind the winner?Same as the last Cyclechat HnH, where CCC get passed at halfway, and roll in over the line 5 minutes down and everyone else has logged of and gone to get a shower
I might add, that this race (where a Cat C rider came 5th, just 5 seconds behind the winner), was 50% further than tonight's and a 5 minute gap clearly worked fine, which suggets a gap of 4.15 on tonight's shorter course is still too big if anything. If the same number of seconds per kilometre was used for the time gap, it should actually be closer to 3 and a half minutes. Which, if I start to apply @<Tommy> 's suggestion of a 30 second penalty for every complaint could be a reality very soonYou mean this last Cyclechat HnH race, where the top 5 included riders from A, B & C groups, with a C rider in 5th, 5 seconds behind the winner?

I've seen that 5th place rider somewhere before... I think he's a ringer @Ketty
OK so not the last HnH race then. No, the race being alluded to was one of the ones done on the Figure 8 course back in May/June time. Back then we had a D group as well and in the first two races we finished 2nd and 1st (although that one was disputed because a B joined us accidentally and paced us round), so because of that we had our time gap slashed in the third race - unfairly in our minds, but weren't able to convince the rest of the group. We then basically got completely hammered in that race finishing 4th by a massive distance - we hadn't even reached the bottom of the KOM when the final team caught us.
If tonight we do get caught in the final 1-2km, then I'm okay with the gaps even though we haven't won (which is certainly what we'll be trying to do - don't doubt that for a second). It's more that I fear us getting caught at Tower Bridge or even earlier, because riding those last 7-8km knowing that all the other teams are already in front of you and you have nothing left to ride for, is just boring. Been there, done that.
