Morning guys, someone on the forum was asking about the Whoop I wear which basically monitors your strain, sleep recovery etc.
I thought I would give some feedback about the Whoop and last nights race which was hard for me personally trying to hang on to the ccc team team whilst being in a freezing garage breathing in lots of cold air.
This morning the whoop showed my hrv to be very low which is not good, my recovery data very low which again is not good and my respiratory rate high (not good).:heat:
So basically the whoop is telling me I’m f*#k**d and I need to take it easy today and get some good sleep later for recovery.
I’m now thinking is this data good to know or not when it’s that crap because mentally it’s not making me feel very good before I head out to work!
Anybody else suffering today after last nights race?
Whoop update:
Whoop data has confirmed to me that if your an older cyclist around 56 you probably need 2 days to fully recover after a hard race on a Tuesday and in fact my hrv went to a higher good level than b4.:okay:

I'm too tight for the whoop.

I downloaded a free app called EliteHRV which you can pair with your heart rate strap for a couple of minutes in the morning which gives you similar data.

I think the verification is good for the league but a couple of small issues for me personally:

1. WTRL’s post says that rider weight should include bib shorts and cycle jersey. I weigh myself regularly, but usually in the nude. Will do a weight with bibs and jersey this weekend to make sure I’m accurate.

2. I’ve never actually measured my height! My height is a guesstimate converted from 5’ 10” so need to get a height measurement done this weekend too!

I don’t really like the fact that they want the weight within 12 hours either side of the event, for a couple of reasons:

Firstly - I think the weight verification should always be before the race (to encourage good practice from racers to weigh in and update before the event)

Secondly - 12 hours seems quite tight. This is a community event, and people have lives outside of all this so could find it difficult to do a verification on the same day as the race. To me, within a few days seems reasonable for a community event. For a premier division I’d expect them to do weigh ins immediately before the race tbh

Because WTRL are accepting weigh ins within 12 hours either side of the event, presumably they are permitting a margin of error? I’d prefer to see them insist that the weigh in is before the event and that the weight value in Zwift must exactly match the weigh in...

I'd imagine they have a decent margin (possibly 5%?) as your weight can change quite a lot over a day and most home scales are pretty inaccurate.

Read some interesting numbers about Kittel and his most successful years in the TDF. He averaged around 3.1W/kg for the tour, had an FTP of 4.9 W/kg peak sprint power for 3 secs of 1940Watts.

But generally finshed in the bottom 10% of GC.

It was assessed that the effort to ride in a grand tour, daily efforts are between 5-10% higher than a GC contender. Those are the difficulties of a 90kg sprinter

I totally understand that and you racing snakes need to pray for the fatties sprinters on this message board

If he is 90kg that is a BIG weight to lug around the TdF. I'm only 8kg heavier. That has blown my mind.

I weigh myself every Monday morning, after 2 wees and 1 poo, with my watch off, naked and exhaling. This is the weight I use for Zwift. I'll be buggered if I'm doing this before and after a race!!! Jesus, we are C league, not the Premier!!!

You should just be able to do a little video of you getting on the scales with something with the date on that was done within a week of the race. Possibly in a mankini ^_^

I did exactly the same but with hrv4training which worked well but then I decided to give whoop a try for at least 6 months.
With Whoop it also makes you aware on how much quality sleep you get which is important for recovery and I’ve been going to bed a lot earlier than I use to.

I think they need to also introduce VAR for reviews and a drug testing kit!

Does it get your sleep right? My garmin always thinks I'm asleep when I'm in bed reading.
No not always, mine thinks I’ve taken a nap or gone to sleep while watching the tv but you edit the times and then it works out your sleep data.
It’s surprising how little deep sleep you get and it’s never more than 2 hours for me.

Don't give @Joffey excuses ... we need results in CCC, not excuses!
