Okay thanks, went through that I now have to wait for Apple to review my request...???
Wish me luck...!!!

@CXRAndy

Seems I have to find the original receipt of purchase OR take out a court order for Apple to release the passcode to my late Uncle's ipad... !!!

Anyone know of any other way to get the pass code or perform a full factory reset to enable me to use the iPad...?

A bunch of the Bkoolers are playing around on RGT. They have met up for some races and even put together a team for a team challenge. @berty bassett is on it. I heard they offered him 2.4 million and 1\2 the proceeds of the sale of Berty jerseys. The downside is in the fine print it was 2.4 million Zimbabwe dollars.

Does seem to be picking off a few zwifters as well. Would love to see a genuine competitor for zwift, numberswise. Does seem like wtrl is working in spite of, rather than because of zwift.

That's wild, hope you get sorted, unfortunately I've no idea

@Spartak are you sure there aren't wires crossed here? Apple seem to think you want access to the data stored on the iCloud account associated with the iPad and will provide you with access to it once there is a court order. They specifically say that even with that court order and access to iCloud you still won't be able to use/access the iPad unless you know the passcode or perform a factory reset. The reset should be possible as long as you have a computer available to plug the device in to.

So what do you want to do? Get onto the device to see content on it? Access the iCloud account to view content synced from the iPad? Reset the iPad to use it yourself from fresh? The latter should be possible (follow the guide posted earlier in the thread), and unless you know the passcode you won't be able to get into it anyway (unless you ask an Israeli cyber contractor!).

The "problem" with Apple devices is, that they are tied to the Apple ID. So yes, you can reset it, but without access to the associated Apple ID credentials, you can't use it...

And if wtrl were to move to RGT?

If that meant that they took the numbers, but that would be unlikely .I've no idea what the race mechanics are compared to zwift racing but I definitely wouldnt rule it out in the future.

i do think zwift are hugely ahead of the game in terms of user numbers though, and that is likely to stay that way for a while.

I do enjoy it but I understand how people are annoyed at the stalling of zwiftpower, and the lack of changes that the user base has been asking for (can we please not have to exit out of the whole game to change routes), seemingly at the expense of chasing pro racers.

TL;DR I love zwift but like a moan

Zwift have made it pretty clear that their focus is on lowering the barrier to entry and catering to the masses. Definitely seems to leave an opportunity for a niche player to specialise in racing, doesn't it?!

For WTRL specifically - I'd be surprised if Zwift don't have a clause in their agreement with WTRL that keeps them exclusive to Zwift.

i am sure you are right. The ZHR move to RGT though may be significant enough to make zwift make some moves to appease/support race organisers and also improve club support . They are riding the impact of the pandemic for now. They may be weighing up the risk of losing some zwifters against a background of huge membership gains in the last 9 months and the foreseeable future.

I asked son about the iPad - he said much the same as you are screwed if you don’t have password , is it possible it is written down somewhere , diary , phone , calendar something like that
As for RGT I think if you look into it , there is a lot going on but you have to know where to look (website rgtbd,Facebook etc )
I’ve done enough bleating on about it in the past so I won’t go on

but

it’s £13.99 a month cheaper than Zwift 👍

A factory reset, I'm not interested in anything existing on the ipad I just want to use it [ for Zwift ] . It seems such a waste if it can't be reset...?

I would Contact iSmash or try another high street phone repair shop. I am pretty sure there was a way a few years back to do a hard reset but it may not be publicly available to deter crime.
