Well, good news and bad news today.

Bad news is I have hit the landmark of 60 today....

Good news is I move up into the 60-64 category in Masters Racing - so things may be ever so slighly less hard :okay:

Just got this from my youngest daughter - made me laugh

Happy bday Martin. No need to worry about those numbers, these days 60 is new 30...if it's help any.

Happy Birthday!

On an unrelated topic, I've felt like my pedalling over the last week or so to be a bit too square and out of sync. Has anyone got any advice? (No rollers available....I've heard they can be useful)

Happy birthday sir
On square pedalling , rollers definitely help you to get smoother and punish you many fold if you don’t do it right
- going outside helps instead of turbo
Maybe single leg pedalling ?
Someone will be more helpful I am sure
, I know when I get tired it helps to just look down at legs and see what they are doing - sounds strange but knees could begin to kick out and just doesn’t feel right , have a word with yourself and use stomach and thighs to neaten things up
- I realise I have now opened myself right up to ridicule as sometimes my legs are bandier than Tina turners

To help you keep your leg rotation as circular as possible. push slightly forward at the top of the stroke and pull back at the bottom of stroke.

My inlaw has terrible pedal action. He blamed the bike because his pedal action clunked at high cadence with light resistance. After giving him some Trainer Road exercises he improved

Happy birthday Martin , like the card 😂. When I was in my twenties , I always told myself that I was training to be a Veteran , then , in my thirties , training to do well in the over forties cat . Now, I’m in my fifties and I’ve stopped kidding myself that I’ll do well in the over sixties , cause those who are still at it are pretty committed and ride at a decent level 😀.
Good luck with your cycling this year and keep breaking those power PBs to show the young uns that you’re never too old .

I found this YouTube video useful when planning some pedaling improvement exercises. my Cadence is usually in around the 90rpm mark, and I try and spin faster with lighter gear up the hills as I find the lactic acid builds up very fast in my quads if I go for the standing pedalling technique.

Today I had a bit of a spin on RGT. The first time I'd used in in around 6 Months. To my surprise there were other users on it wheras before I was lucky to see one other user and a couple of bots. It's not a bad experience and it was nice to have a change of scenery. Following that I did a ramp test over in Zwift to seek co formation that I am officially "going shite" as we like to say round these parts. Suffice to say the result (293w) was down but only 10w lower than my early summer test. This gives me something to build on from January as I try to get some motivation back.

A bunch of the Bkoolers are playing around on RGT. They have met up for some races and even put together a team for a team challenge. @berty bassett is on it. I heard they offered him 2.4 million and 1\2 the proceeds of the sale of Berty jerseys. The downside is in the fine print it was 2.4 million Zimbabwe dollars.
