We had a dodgy start with one going out the gate early 😁 and then took a while to group but then worked really together, Michael taking long stints at the front. We broke up a bit on the climbs and then again took a while to regroup before 4 of us pushed on to the finish. It’s a great TTT course.

I slightly jumped the gun at the start as I thought the rest of the team was already in front of me but it turned out it was only one of them and it was me who was leaving everyone behind! Note that this is pretty much the only time in the whole ride where I'm on the front - I basically hung on for grim death for most of the rest of the ride. They finally dropped my sorry excuse of a rider at the lap banner (I'd told them to do that at least three times previously but I guess they felt sorry for me and let me catch up) and the camera then stays on me and @Spartak for the next two minutes or so, before I remembered to switch views to the leading four to show their finishing few miles.

Really good ride from us tonight.

We were missing 2 of our strongest riders tonight and I had to draft in a guy from my road club who’s only just moved up to B so that we had 6 riders.

We rode well as a team. I don’t know if it was because of the riders we had out, but I felt before the ride I had to step up. Not so much hanging on and more taking as much of a turn at the front as I could, as well as encouraging our new guy.

We only finished 19 out of 22, but our time of 45.13 was respectable and everyone felt good about the ride. Our new guy finally dropped about 4km out on the Embankment and the remaining 5 of us rode home together.

The good thing for us was the results seem to have fallen ok and we’re still 16th out of 22 after 6 weeks of racing in East 1 Division 1B. 4 weeks to go to see if we can keep our place in the top division. I’d love to do it, but it’s ****ing hard! There are some strong teams in there!

For me personally, I’ve loved the challenge and despite low finishes in the individual events I know I’ve given everything I could. And after many weeks of hanging on in the TTT, I’ve finished well with the group in the last 2 and feel like I’m contributing more and getting caught out a little less by gradient changes.

Having said that, this Thursday’s TTT course on Watopia Hilly looks like its been custom built to expose every flaw in my riding with constant gradient changes and 3 times over the original KoM. Expect a miserable bastard race report on Friday! 😂

And finally, well done to the Cyclechat teams tonight. Looks like you guys are continuing to turn in some good rides!

Our night didn’t go so well. Our captain got stuck in the pairing screen in the pen and whilst we waited and waited for him to try and catch it was never going happen. So we pushed on and tried to make up the lost time which I think was the mistake. Got to bottom of box hill and was going well but I was struggling badly now and starting to fade so let the others go on as still was 4. Haven’t looked at WTRL yet but recording showed 45.12, not bad considering the start.

Edit WTRL 45.32
Well done #68 and #23 showing again well ahead of everyone else in our league. 👍🏼

How strange it shows me wearing my ZsunR kit even though I changed it for team colours?

The same thing has happened to me in the past. I was showing as being on a time trial bike when I’d actually changed it before the race.

#23 Really dug in last night. It was a hit punch thinking we’d lost bridgy in the pen. I wasn’t feeling so hot, and my headphones weren’t working properly, but I gathered Bridgy has somehow managed to rejoin and it was a big relief. Then I could here someone else saying they were having a technical, transpired it was Norry. My heart kind of sank again. We have has some bad luck as a team this season. Not trying to moan too much, we’re still top of the league so I’m not complaining! But we’ve been up against it. Even if it might appear like a cruise from the outside every race I feel like we’ve all of us really had to dig in to get where we are.

Terrific result last night I thought. I just couldn’t get my breathing under control at all. But like I said to the lads afterward. Every time I looked up from my assumed position hunched over the stem wheezing, someone was putting in a massive turn 🙌🙌 . Gutted for Martin, but it’s always a moment of pride when you see how everyone else steps up to try and fill the void.

This team in second are coming on strong now. After last weeks race, because we hadn’t really registered them before. We have put them down as light weight climbers, maybe even one trick ponies. But yesterday shows they’re going to make it tough for us for the rest of the league so we know can’t afford to relax or take anything for granted if we want to be crowned champions of the world and zwifting universe. As well as defenders of the galaxy and captains of the starship fleet! Yes, I know I know.... I’m as surprised as anyone they would give the winners of a division 2 league of an online game that title, but I don’t make the rules 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for doing this. Those last 3 or 4 miles were very painful.

Well that was nearly a disaster last night, came out of the pairing screen as I stopped pedalling however my momentum carried me forward for several seconds and I went thru the start arch and closed in on the timing gate.....
My expletives 🤬 could be heard across the Discord channel.

EDIT : video shows me sat in no man's land -0.03 secs ahead of Steve at the start 🤣

Team CC#68 rode well with the front four of @Ketty @Joffey @bobinski & @mjd1988 pulling well. Course wasn't as flat as I remembered and I quite often found myself struggling on the inclines, although I did fare better on the first climb out of the 'city', but once I'd climbed the escalator back into London I was toast and the team took the correct decision to drop myself & @steverob.
We pushed on to the finish line with the sound of lots of heavy breathing from our teammates as they finished strongly...

Great effort again from Team CC#68.

Well done also to CC#23 :notworthy: amazing !!!

I also did okay on the bigger slopes (Trafalgar, lead up to Box Hill turn), but struggled on the smaller inclines and that's where I was more likely to get dropped. Maybe it was because I knew where the bigger slopes were and deliberately put out much higher watts to get me up them, plus knowing I could rest for the 10 seconds of downhill after they were over, whereas on the smaller rises I was only able to do my normal watts which weren't quite enough to keep up with the group, and the road typically just went flat afterwards, so there was no time to ease off either.

Am I right in thinking the start line is in front of all 4 pens?
