A nicely managed / disciplined effort there.Strategy was 265W to the hill 295W up the hill, on the new virtual Canyon Aeroad , Result was 266 and 300 W and a PB of over a minute , so very pleased with that .
Yeah for the first 10km or so @bridgy quite annoyingly sat 1 or 2 seconds ahead of me on the road. In fairness that motivated me to keep chasing hard. I lost sight of you on the approach to the Aqueduct and that was that. A fellow GC competitor then over took me on the petite KOM and I had noted down he was 33s behind me before today so I had the motivation again to work hard on the hill and limit my losses. Looks like I finished 17 seconds down on Paul tonight 🙌It was as you'd probably expect! Nip and tuck with @IrishAl all the way. My plan was to just ignore him and ride to power at my own pace plan....but that was easier said than done!
Now just waiting for the final GC results- looks like a couple of the top 10 have got themselves DQ'd or upgraded A and I don't think anyone behind me has overtaken me so I have my fingers crossed for a top 10 finish 🤞

Just thinking how great this should be. Two teams full of pals. Should be a brilliant laugh!
Didn't see the highlights. How did the helicopter take out riders?FFS chaos at the Giro again. Another bottle takes out another rider, and the helicopter takes out 2 more riders Not good.
It was on Beeb website - last 800 metres, was too low and blew the barriers across the road into cyclists. One has broken his back so they say (could be hip) - absolute shambles.Didn't see the highlights. How did the helicopter take out riders?

My potential GC battle in C category turned out to be a damp squib in the end.It was as you'd probably expect! Nip and tuck with @IrishAl all the way. My plan was to just ignore him and ride to power at my own pace plan....but that was easier said than done!

Well done @steverob 8th place is great! My potential GC battle in C category turned out to be a damp squib in the end.
The guy who I was three seconds behind was certainly in the pens (I saw his name and avatar behind me), but when the event started, he didn't. Either he got a mechanical/technical problem or he was called away from his bike and did not come back in time for the start time. All I know is that his avatar never actually crossed the official start line outside the pens, because he didn't show up on ZwiftPower LIVE at any point.
Of course I didn't know that immediately and still sprung out of the traps at high pace thinking I needed to get a big lead over him, but by the time I was halfway round the flat part and hadn't seen his name appear in the right hand side I thought something must be up. So I spent the next few minutes scrolling up and down on the companion app on my phone to see if I could see him (which may have meant a small drop in my watts as my concentration lapsed) and when he wasn't showing up, I just then tried to put in a steady effort all the way to the finish. Struggled a bit on the climb, but still got a PR, so it wasn't like I was slacking or anything.
Think I'll come 8th overall in GC, as the person who had the lead (who only inherited it after last week's race) did a stupid thing and got promoted to B after a hard race at the weekend, thereby throwing away a potential win!

Beeb story
Was only saying to wifey the other day that there needs to be more controls around the bottles being thrown away (and all the gel wrapper rubbish etc) then G is taken out followed by the guy yesterday. Cycling at that speeds is dangerous enough, last thing these chaps and chapesses need is more danger thrown into the race!
