The sterzo really is looking like a bit of a game changer isn't it?

Yes it looks a changer...for now when only few have it, but things might getting back to normal when most Zwifters have it and everyone select the shortest ride line.

When I did the race and most racers had one then it was possible to get the benefits as all riders were fighting for position, best line and draft etc When I'm free riding though and most riders don't have one, and Zwift keeps the blob in the draft then it's much harder to stick with the blob and cutting corners gives no benefit (it's actually worse).

It's fun to use but needs more races with it enabled and more users steering. Going up hill, where draft and blob size is less of a factor then steering will help. On flats with large blobs, unless it's a steering race I'll be turning mine off as I'll get dropped pretty sharpish :B)

Yeah - I've found the same when I've used it (although I've not used it much as haven't been Zwifting a lot). When in a race with a sizeable bunch, any benefit of being able to cut the corners is more than negated by not being able to get back in the wheels and a lot of time you're stuck at the side of the bunch with your nose in the wind.

Have you been in/seen any Sterzo only races @Whorty? That's where the real fun will be :okay:

I managed some good figures and finished in a time of 24:16 with a FTP increase from 262 - 265 :okay:

@IrishAl..... Sorry no pics !
I'm actually really starting to enjoy TTs. For some reason I can seemingly put out a higher level of power - maybe it's because I'm not having to concentrate on staying in drafts or keep up with packs of sandbaggers and can just focus on riding only - but I absolutely smashed my previous FTP. 95% of 20 min power - 2.636 w/kg (up from 2.52!)

A TT i.e. at fairly constant power is the most efficient way of riding and should theoretically give you your best power average - this is especially so on Zwift as you don't have to be in an aero position which often reduces your available output power.

Sooner or later someone is going to write a script to look at live location by combining distance and route from Zwiftpower and then auto-steer to the shortest line!

Only done the one so far, a Zwift HQ Crit race. Was actually really good fun with everyone (or most anyway) steering, and also the anti-sandbagging on. This was when the steering was first released - not seen any recently - almost like Zwift have (again) got bored of their own development

I'm hoping to get on the 3R race later and if steering is enabled I'll use it just for a laugh and some practice :okay:

Do you know if there's a symbol for "steering enabled" in events on ZP? Like they have a symbol next to the event for double-draft, TT bikes only, no powerups etc etc?

Actually just done a bit of digging and whilst I can't answer my own question about ZP, Zwifthacks.com does allow you to search races and events and filter for ones that have steering enabled - https://zwifthacks.com/app/events/?key=5f3c0ea1a9d6f

According to them, steering is enabled on tonight's TTT which I'm doing (I had heard it was, then it wasn't so I'm not totally sure)
I believe it is. Bit of a test night tonight. Double draft, power ups, steering.

Don't think anyone in my team has the steering thing anyway, so that won't really be an issue (and the power ups and double draft will be welcome to be honest!). I wonder if the best tactic is not to use it if you have it but most of your team don't, based on Whorty's comments? Also, I wonder if the teams where all riders have it will have a distinct advantage...?

No, not that I'm aware. Now Zwift own/run ZP it would be up to them to add it and I'm not convinced that they're that sold by the website.

Good luck in the various TTT teams tonight chaps :okay:

I raced this afternoon. Went into it thinking it might be a fairly easy ride as there were only 5 C's registered on ZwiftPower (2 of whom were B riders) but in the pen there were 20+ riders (14 C's in the final results in ZP). The 3R races are interesting in that whilst cats have their own pens, all cats are visible, so if you can blast it then it is possible to latch on to the fast boys and girls, if only for a short time!

Tim joined me in the race and our plan was to try to get on the A&B train and see if they could pull us ahead before a little group formed. This kind of worked; we both made it to the leaders but Tim said he lost concentration for a few seconds and suddenly he was out the back. I luckily managed to hold on all the way to Northumberland Ave. climb but then was spat out right at the top, losing a wheel. I did manage to find a couple of B's to surf behind, and then 5 minutes later we swept up a few C's - looking on ZP live I could see that our little group had the top 3 C riders, so as long as I held on I'd be sure of a podium spot.

Was a cagey ride with attacks on the climbs up Whitehall, but no one got dropped on the 6 laps. I could see on the right that Tim was in a chasing group and slowly pulling us back in (i think they had a few Bs too) - this made the last 2 laps interesting as we were trying to save energy for the sprint whilst trying to keep Tim's group at bay.

In the end we hit the last lap with a lead of about 35 seconds so it looked like we were safe .... now for the final push. We all managed to get up Whitehall together, so I was recovering and thinking of doing a long attack from 0.6km out when someone beat me to it and attacked 0.8km out :banghead: I got briefly caught in a sticky so by the time I broke through that I was 5 seconds down. I just couldn't close the gap to the leader, leaving me in 2nd. Chap who came in 3rd probably got surprised by the long attack as he was a few seconds behind me.

Excellent workout, and thanks @Ketty for the company:okay: Always nice seeing a team mate in a race.

Jeez, double draft in a TTT sounds brutal! One lapse in concentration and its over, unless the team notice quickly and its early enough on in the event to make a wait worthwhile...
