A were never gonna catch B. We were too strong even with some of the B’s easing to have a look at the sights on the course 😀Still at least that gave the A’s some false hope and made them work a bit To get close and the B’s pulled it together when it mattered most.
I'd like to think it was my final pull that made all the difference

I thought you were going to pull the A group at one point @Whorty - you were putting down some good power to stay in the group then came through with a power up?! :okay:

Perhaps I’m not going mad, then! Anyone seen anything similar reported on Facebook groups etc?

@bridgy and @<Tommy> how do you recall it? I thought I pipped @<Tommy> too but less sure - I thought it was very close...
I was in front so obviously couldn't really see what was going on behind :becool:

But what I can say is Tommy definitely came in directly behind me as I did see him appear at the end. Can't believe I won a sprint- has to be a first! I went quite early- about 700 metres I think, and just tried to hold on to the line - a bit worrying when you're completely tying up and you see everyone's numbers behind you go orange!

Thanks @IrishAl and @<Tommy> for organising- was a great event, let's do it again soon :hyper:

I was cooked towards the end of lap 4...and at that point I could see a few of you looked strong and were still putting in decent efforts so if anything I backed off a bit and surfed the wheels. At the turn at l’Arc.dT I could see the gap was stubbornly remaining at the 20 seconds so I guessed the Bs were putting in big efforts to stay out and we had eased off slightly. Come the tunnel the gap was Only down to 16 seconds— and at that point our game was up and it was just pride to play for. I don’t think we could have got the timing s much better...luck or skill?

Perhaps the C group should have been given an extra 30 seconds? Anyway that gives us some good data for the next one.

Btw. were was the finish banner? Was it far off the true finish line?
I think c’s getting another 30seconds is great idea :okay:

That would be nice

I think we had the smallest group last night, with a couple of technical issues, so we were always going to get caught but then it's judging the effort before the catch to ensure we have enough left in the tank to hang on (not dissimilar to a H&H race). Personally, after I helped Steve get back to Joffey, i could have sat up and waited for B and sat with them to reach you but I didn't think that was the right thing to do hence why I burnt a lot of matches to try and ride with you a bit more - not that I helped you much but hopefully a moral-boost ride

Judging by the number of posts - last night's race was a big success! :okay:

Froome and Thomas not in Ineos TDF team

No real surprise from the form of both in the Dauphine. Looking at a photo from my mate in Tenerife with G, he looked heavier than when he won in 2018.- no good for mountains when 2-3 kg can be difference between winning.

Just look at sprinters, they are 5 kg or si heavier than GC riders, but get blown away on mountain stages.

Chris Froome, obviously still recovering from near career ending accident. There is hope though look at Van Aert after a period of rehabilitation. Strada Bianchi, Milan San Remo winner this year and first stage Dauphine

Yes the technical issues cost us another lap as a group which meant greater efforts all round.

My heart rate is only just coming down now:wacko:
