One of the good things for me is that all of our team, bar 2 riders, are over 50s, and one of the As pulling on the front last night is an over 60. He's an absolute machine, so there's hope for me yet.

Of our 2 exceptions, one is a 12 year old from Northern Ireland and he just surfs along near the back before exploding over the line at the finish. When he wins the TdF, I hope he remembers surfing in my draft in the TTT!
i didn't realise @mjd1988 was so young

I'd appreciate that. A quarter of Wednesday's course is uphill so it's no fun for me. But it will give me chance to try out the Cycling Weekly TT so all is not lost.

I'm not going to moan, the peeps who organise the events do so in their spare time and deserve applauding for it and I really appreciate what they do. Since joining the CycleChat Zwifters I have been made welcome and encouraged and have loved every minute. BUT a little bit of me dies when I see yet another course that I'll finish last on. But that's my fault. I'm too fat. If I lose weight I won't come last, but losing the weight is hard.

Usually I can cope with finishing last (after all it's nearly every time lol), but this week for some reason it's really got to me. I'll stop feeling sorry for myself and hopefully be back for the following event, flat, hilly or rolling.
May be no consolation, but when we used to rid eon BKool I was always last (now I'm only last but 2  ). We did then have a few more riders just ahead of me so wasn't always completely lonely but I was pretty much always last. Over the past 18 months I've lost quite a bit of weight though which has helped massively - I've never going to win races as I don't have the power (I must have the lowest FTP on here :surrender:) but I am more competitive than I was and it does make a big difference in races :okay:

Did I mention that I beat @bobinski in the Irish league race last Monday :wahhey:It was my blistering sprint that did it :cuppa:

I find Leith Hill a mental challenge rather than physical - I think it's the fact that you feel like you've been on the hill for a life time when the KoM message pops up that you're about to start Leith Hill

Interesting course and not one I do often - definitely one for the lightweights with power again but will be interesting to see where on the hill I get caught  And whether I can throw a lasso on to the goat-train as it flies past me :bicycle::bicycle:

Had a go on Suffefest today and the 4DP test. Has me down as a Rouleur which I think is being generous for saying I'm average at everything but good at nothing  My FTP at 234 (3.16 w/kg) has me very firmly in C cat still  I really struggled for that 20 mins. Very painful. I probably had a bit more to give on the sprint as 5 seconds is a bit short to get it spot on, but even so, quite surprised by 762 watts. The 5 min section was hard but again, not too upset with 286 watts. Of the 4 tests I enjoyed the 1 minute effort the most .... maybe I should be looking for races that last 60 seconds

Zwift ramp tests estimate my FTP at 240 ish so not miles away and comparable.

Carl, respect for doing the test at all but your supposed to rest in the days leading up to it. You haven’t! In fact there is a 7 day plan designed to impose rest and prepare you for the Rigour if the test. You almost certainly unperformed across the metrics. I am not having a go just saying the test results won’t accurately reflect your strengths and will likely lead to lowish settings in any SF training plan.
Still, the 20 after the 5 min? Awful😁 And then the one minute at the end? 😂

Yes, I know, but couldn't find a Zwift race I wanted to do this afternoon so thought I'd give this a pop. I did the Zwift MAP ramp yesterday so that wasn't the best prep  So I'd agree the numbers are probably slightly low but I think they will be in the right ball park. I can always do the test again at a later date but at least the workouts have a base to start from :okay: If I continue with SF after the free period I'll do the test again.

The ramp test is 🤮 inducing if done right. I think I've done it twice.

The odd thing is immediately after pulling the pin you feel you could have gone longer.

I think both of mine gave a 230-240 watts result. At my then weight it didn't touch the 2 w/kg mark. If I could get there now I be a lot closer.

It’s all good Carl we can make it work mate. I’m heading off last. So as long as I know who’s in the race before it starts I can tell people when they are due to go off next in the chat. If you or anyone else can’t make the race it just means the people either side of you In the results / timings are now next to eachother (if that makes sense...)

If the chaps who didn’t make this weeks race could say whether they want to be put into the timings for next week that would be great

Me and my good lady are away on hols next week - so no ta :okay:
