Sounds splendid! What would be good is if we are having a points system that it is a fair for all system.

When we did our own league on based on the DBR leagues I won the D series but came nearly last overall on the CChat league - that can't be fair as it's just excluding me all the way for being a fat knacker. It just meant that the whole league was decided by a few riders and the rest of us were just along for the ride. Maybe a points system based on Cat? I'll try and explain:

Race 1 - winner of Cat A, B, C & D get 10 points, 2nd in each Cat get 9, 3rd in each Cat get 8 etc... Then they are put in the overall league, so on Week 1 you will have 4 people on 10 points at the top of the league. Do the same each week and you'll get an accurate league table based on performances in your ZP Cat and then that will be shown on the overall league table?

Only a suggestion...

Joffrey I know what you’re saying. But I have to say personally I want to keep things as simple as possible. I think we all noticed over the last few months divisions were beginning to form within this group. Divisions that were pretty much split down cat boundaries. The point of the handicap races is it’s a chance for us all to race together.

It’s fair in the sense it’s the same for everyone. Personally I don’t think it matters where you are in the pecking order. Because this group has always had a wide range of riders there’s always be someone to put yourself against. Someone will be first and someone will be last. I hope that doesn’t sound harsh but I thinkthat’s just the way it is. the last few months were a bit crap on here from time to time and doing the handicap races has really pulled us all together again. For me personally I’d find it a real shame if we lost that again.

My personal preference. And this is just my opnion I’m not trying to in force it. Is that we don’t have league tables. I just don’t think we need them do we? There’s enough leagues already on zwift. Results on the night are posted. Then used to help us work out future events and take the piss out of eachother with. Keep it simple and fun.

Maybe this is the simplest thing to do. We have results after each race so everyone knows where they came, and its easy to see if someone has had a blinder and finished higher up than their cat would suggest but then it's a clean slate the next week. It also means if someone wants to have a race within a race to see who would have won that cat you can work it out if you want but it's just bragging rights. Race reports rather than league tables

Most of us are doing some league such as the TTT or the Irish one so maybe this one can be a bit more informal, and a bit less admin?

As possibly the slowest of all the D's, I actually don't have a problem with being lumped in with the A's, B's and C's - I know none of us are ever going to win a non-handicapped event, but I'm happy just joining in the banter, being cannon fodder for the rest of you and concentrating on battling it out with my contemporaries.

The only event I'm not keen on would be the elimination one - for me especially, that event could well be over within just 3 minutes (and for my fellow D's, not much longer). Maybe that's one we do have some sort of categorisation for?

I think this is a good idea :okay: Easier to maintain too and less work for Pete etc

I absolutely fecking hate agreeing with Tommy but...I do.
let’s keep it simple and enjoyable. The hard work should be in the riding not the admin. It leaves space for banter, tales of heroism, laments over being dropped or failing to bridge. And the inevitable excuses😁

That's the best solution :okay:

I quite like the idea of a 3 minute race  No pacing, just flat out for a lap or two! Do or die! :boxing:

I think that’s a fair point about the elimination races it’ll also be quite hard to say who’s been eliminated from time to time with lag, close finishes and general sweat in the eyes! Maybe that one needs some more thinking.

Back in the old, old Bkool days when this all started we didn't have different Cats and it seemed to work fine and everyone enjoed their own personal battles wherever they were in the league table. And for those of you who weren't around back then, the people that now win races weren't winning them when they started out in those Bkool leagues, they worked their way up (I mean, I can remember when Tommy and Lee were distinctly mid-table - happy times :cuppa:)

I'm not saying separate Cats are right or wrong but they're a Zwift thing we've just all got used to and if it makes things over-complex or divisive for our own races I think we can happily manage - and have fun - without them.

Having said that, I do think we all agree that handicap races where everyone has a shot at crossing the line first are REALLY good - the problem with them is they're really reliant on getting the handicaps right which can be a bit tricky and complicated.

Thanks to the nudge from @mjd1988 I've just found this huge thread!

I've recently started Zwift racing (started in the wrong group but now 4 races in @ Cat B), got a little series on Youtube of my progress if anyone is interested (subscribe too :P)

I'm really enjoying it so far, it is shocking how much you have to push yourself and the training benefits of racing are huge. My real road rides feel so easy now
