Strange how it went tonight. In fairness the man down cost those teams of 3 but we won’t say too much about the - Get in there A’s! Woohoo!
The track stands on the finish line banner Nearly cost us but all was in jest. Once we had line of sight to the Ds we could afford to ease back a bit and but we kept motoring to the esses before Berty took off like a man possessed the Bridgy went over the top as if he was late for his dinner.
Well done all in that heat.
Different course next time?
I've got a polka dot Jersey on in that picture- that's a first!!

Well whilst most of you were sweating in the TTT is was also sweating in the final round of the DBR Boerkop Cykler Cup. Thanks to 4 wins and a 2nd in the first 5 rounds I only had to finish tonight to secure the Cat D Cup but it wasn’t easy in this heat.

I was feeling good in the heat but pushed too hard on the KOM and seemed to overheat so badly I had to drag myself round the last 16 miles on my own. A proper blow up.

Thanks to my prime points I finished 3rd on ZP but was upgraded to 2nd on points thus securing the Cup for me and a 2nd place for Cyclechat in the team comp!

Needless to say with all this heat I’m pleased it’s over and I’m looking forward to the next series, whatever that may be.

I felt pretty good for the first 20 minutes, but after that it was just painful. I just wanted it to end by the time we got to the last couple miles. And even with the AC blowing full blast all morning plus dual fans and sucking down a bottle of icy water I still lost ~4lbs of water.

On a positive note, I was slightly concerned about possibly having a DVT and it getting loose after yesterday's race, but it seems to have been a false alarm. Additionally my yearly scans and blood work from Monday look good. No sign of metastasis and the spot we were slightly concerned about on my other kidney hasn't changed, so it's unlikely to be another tumor. Small stone still hanging around, but not growing or obstructing anything either.

Great to hear that Jeff!

Don’t buy a fan

I bought a fan for my office during the last heatwave, and it’s rubbish. All it does is push hot air around, which helps nobody. If you do buy a fan, freeze a two-litre bottle of water and place it between the fan and you, which should help to cool the air.

Gonna try it on tomorrow's Zwift ride... 😉
He does contradict himself by saying don't buy a fan and then saying open your windows to promote a breeze.

I remember years ago we dangled a thermometer either side of a fan in a heat wave and proved we were actually blowing hot air into the office. But its the breeze that makes you feel better by moving air across your body and helping sweat to evaporate. That's the only way a fan works when you're on your turbo, but I do agree with the author that putting a cold water bottle or similar between you and the fan would make things cooler.

I think indoor cycling must be exempt from that logic. Anyone who’s ever ridden without a fan can attest to that! I’ll try the water bottle trick 👍

Given Stuart heritage says he works in his conservatory I wouldn't take his advice too seriously. Most of the comments are slagging him off.

A fan will not cool the air temperature but it will cool you

I'm going to give the 'frozen water bottle in front of fan technique' a go at lunchtime, with the trainer on the patio in the shade with extension lead powering the fan.

Hoping to ride an event then.

2L water bottle in the freezer as we speak...

When i first started turbo riding I had no fan - it was awful! I can't ride now without it, wouldn't be healthy.
