I assume you have ventolin but do you take anything else? I have to take Fostair morning and evening as a preventor, plus I have to take Montelukast 2 hours before any exercise to try and stave off the exercise induced asthma. I do still get the odd attack even when I take the Montelukast, but I really do notice when I forget to take the meds!

I have for the last 10+ years have been quite lucky with asthma. I reckon it was having our house with wood and tile flooring, no carpets and the banning of smoking in public places.

It happens like clockwork in June, my asthma returns for 2-4 weeks then subsidies. I dont take meds the rest of the year. I keep an emergency stock of ventolin and steroid just to get me over this period.

What section of your epidermis did you leave there? Knee? NC 500 size Elbow patch?
fall off there and you would die of sheep poo poisoning -you would roll in so much it would get you in the end

Been having a bit of knee pain these last few days, the rain causing me to stay inside and zwift. Just wondering if anyone else gets knee pain from being on a trainer?

I appreciate the 2 bikes (trainer vs outdoors) are a little different but the setups are within about 20mm in reach and very similar for everything else.

I have a little experience of it. It’ll obviously be difficult for anyone here to give much more than an educated guess. But can you be more specific. How bad is the pain? Is it sharp pain, aching pain or both? Have you had it before? Can you say what part of the knee you think it’s coming from? Have you recently increased your time on the bike? Have you recently increased the intensity of your effort on the bike? Have you been less active generally in your life since the lockdown or for any other reason?

It looks interesting an interesting course. Maybe your group gets dumped on the hills you still have a chance at a comeback🤞
Yes it's going to be interesting.

Reverse of the UCI run in down Grosvenor, 23rd Street and Libby Hill and then 4 laps around the flat part of Richmond.

I know we've already got the TTT lined up for Wednesday, but it looks like* the Bolt Racing Team have two new leagues starting this week - and as they are "best 6 results of 8 races", there's no worry about missing out on week 1. Would anyone on here be interested in trying these out?

On Wednesday's at 19:35 they do a Time Trial league (first week it's 2 laps of Watopia Hilly) and on Thursday's at 20:20 they do a Criterium Race league (first week is 3 laps of Seaside Sprint - not clear if there's bonus points on the primes though or if it's just first to the finish). Race results are on ZwiftPower as normal, but they host the league tables on their own website, including one for the all important Team points competition that we CycleChatters love!

* - I say "looks like" because they've still got the old league tables up from their current series that ended this week, but the events are still scheduled to go ahead next week, meaning it logically should be the first race of a new series - 90% of their previous series have started the week after the last one finished, so I think I'm on safe ground there.
I race with BRT on Tuesdays in the 3R league and the TTT on Thursdays. See attached the schedule for the league if you are interested and yes they start new this week 👍🏼

I've suffered from knee pain all my life - typically its related to some back issues and tight muscles - quads and it band mainly. My wondering was more if there was any potential of pain from the bike not moving laterally beneath me on the trainer.

I think for me it’s inconclusive. I’ve had two turbo’s with very little if any lateral moment. When I used the Wattbike atom I got quite bad knee pain. Turned out I have a problem with the cartilage in one my knees. Maybe the bike brought it to the surface. I now own a Tacx turbo bike and so far I’ve had no knee pain apart from the odd ache which doesn’t seem out of the ordinary for me. The Wattbike atom had other things that may have caused issues. The Q factor (the distance between the peddles basically) was noticeably wider than a standard Q factor on a road bike. And also the resistance changes were sometimes unpredictable and very severe (you could be spinning freely to suddenly feel like you’d hit a field of treacle within the space of a second and with no warning), which was quite jarring on the knees. So it’s hard for me to say for sure if it is the lack of lateral movement itself that bought the problem to the surface. I would say that remaining stationary for long periods, not changing your position on the bike, not standing up etc, not changing cadence and spinning at a higher cadence. These things can cause issues generally. Lack of side to side movement? I’m just not sure. Try to compensate for it in other ways and see if it helps?

Both sounds really good and different to what I've done before - I think once DBR finishes on Wednesday I'll have a go at the TT league.

For the next 2 weeks I'm going to give FulGaz a good go to see how I like it so may or may not join races. I'm looking to refocus and try to give myself a little boost as I'm finding Zwift is getting a little stale for me (it feels like I know every corner, lump, flat in detail and I think I need a change).

Riding around FulGaz yesterday, I was on there for nearly 2 hours and the time flew by as I was watching the scenery etc and not thinking about holding wheels and racing. I still have over a stone I want to lose so I'm hoping this will help me get my focus back.

Ive not cancelled my Zwift subs yet and I'lll be back on Zwift again racing at some stage.

Hard not pass is without shadow of doubt the worse hill I have ever seen ! Sit down and your front wheel lifts , stand up and your back wheel spins , then coming down all the weight is on the inside of your thumbs clutching brakes - it would be a nightmare in the wet

It is a bonkers hill. I've done it on bike, motorbike and car - and they are all hard. Bikers (motor) were falling off on the hairpin near the top when I did it that way. In the rain, going down the other side (Wrynose) was almost as hard.

I managed to climb it 'virtually' yesterday (although the trainer could only simulate up to 25% and not the real 30%), but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it in real life - riding that slowly I think I'd have fallen off, then the poor state of the roads, other traffic, the gradient of the bike etc. but, the more I practice I guess the stronger I'll get so if I am ever able to try some of these rides in real life I'll at least give myself a chance ^_^
