All this talk from Carl and Michael about moving up to B cat got me thinking that I am over the moon with where I am , I will stop in C cat and continue to do my best, with coming up to 58 years old and how I have changed my lifestyle around the days of me been in my prime have long past 😀. But if you 2 do move to B cat that has to count for the cyclechat league also so that I can place higher up the table😂😂😂😂

Well done to you both and to Nick also some great improvement there👏👏👏

Both are fairly unreachable for me

My best time up the alpe is 68 minutes from 18 months ago. Might make a goal to do it under an hour, I think that is doable, but still some way off your mark!
Last year, when I was doing a lot of climbing routes on BRVR I did the Alpe a few times under the hour. You need something like 3.3 w/kg average to beat the hour mark. Not sure I'd get anywhere near that at the moment. Maybe I need to sign up to BRVR again (reminds me, still need to get my gears sorted )

You are 5 min faster than me up the Alpe on zwift. Been sandbagging in C for far too long 😉

I didn't get to race (or ride at all) yesterday - so tonight I'm doing the following race. It is on Queen's Highway which I don't think I've raced before.

It is 13 laps, 25.9 miles and 565m of climbing, so will be quite challenging. This will be my first Zwift race with the British Masters mob. They are joining this race but don'r run it. It looks as though Eric Schlange (aka Zwiftinsider) is racing as well - in the B Cat so could be interesting.

Anyone coming to play?

So, back to the last DBR Wahoo League race on Monday. If we plan to use MTB's for some or all of the race, which MTB is fastest, or are they all the same?

tJow do you get a MTB frame?. Ive never done an off-road event

There is a free one in everyone's garage I think. I also got a Scott one a while ago by doing their challenge. I suspect there are more we could buy?......but which one is fastest?

Can't I just plug wheels onto Tron bike, would make a great aero gravel setup:biggrin:

Glad you asked- wasn't something I had thought about- I just thought there was one! There isn't too much difference but according to zwiftinsider it does matter a little

That also definitively says mtbs are faster than road bikes on that circuit by a huge margin

Edit- the s-works one is unlockable by level 5 according to zwiftinsider, although it is nearly 700k drops which seems a lot for a couple of seconds. Then again I never really spend drops anyway so don't really mind

Yes, so for me the only question is whether to start on the MTB and take the penalty on the lead in to the circuit, or do the lead-in on a road bike and swap to MTB.

I think I will start on MTB - I don't fancy trying a bike change in a race. Even if you are with a group on the lead-in, it is very likely to split up when everyone does their bike change and you will probably be swept up by the mob of MTBs anyway.

On the road to ruins course you can make about 40 seconds by swapping bikes- but it only has maybe 8km of dirt road and 20 odd of tarmac. They haven't run speed tests for jungle circuit but it doubt it would be worth it, unless everyone did it in which case the draft would make a difference

Hmmm, thanks - interesting. I just read the article and it also says "Interesting side note: Zwift retooled the Zwift Mountain bike with their latest release, reducing its performance in game."

I assume that is since this article? I'll check I do have the Scott Spark and go with that I think. I also do not plan to start with a road bike and change unless anyone can see that it makes a big difference.
