Yeah the start was an eye opener, got into a little group and we had a good battle for the lower places, just checked and I even got some league points...

That is one of the nice things about the DBR leagues. They give points to the top 60, where some of the others (like the feltet.dk ones) only for the top 30.
In the latter, if you don’t make it with/close to the lead group to the finish it is rather pointless (pun intended) to push on as you’ll only get 1 point regardless of finishing 31st or 101st.
In the DBR ones there is still around 30 points to fight for, for those finishing 31st-60th, which makes it just a little more exciting to actually make it to the finish. :okay:

Is the DBR league always held on the Richmond course?

Yeah I think I was lucky it was a course that suited me as well as it being a small group, hopefully I'll get that extra 0.1w/kg (!) and force myself to ride some more races with you guys soon!
I'm going up to B after the current DBR league finishes even if my numbers aren't there. I'm not winning C races, but I am finding I'm stagnating there as I'm able to cruise with the group at fairly low watts. That first 10 mins last night, before I was dropped, was big watts for me - I don't have access to Strava anymore so not sure what my average was over that 10 mins, but I bet it was over 250. Just need to hang on a little longer next time.

Might do some B crit races as I think they should be good training to get me working hard for that 20-30 minute section.

This is for the Wednesday night series - we are currently half way through:

527375

We do one on a Monday night at 6:15pm too but it's the last one next week. It looks like it's the jungle course and MTBs will be required so it might be an interesting race!

Yeah I am definitely going to make the step up soon, even if I don't get that extra 0.01 watt/kg!

It was a very different animal to the c race. I suppose in these race series im constantly looking around me watching for someone to make a break, marking someone (or checking who is cheating) whereas in the b race anything was a bonus as everyone is better. Anything with a climb will be total pain but that's the way it should be for someone 80kg plus- I've won a couple of Koms in the c race series and that shouldn't really happen, so don't want to overstay.

Mind you I might be back pretty soon, the margins are so fine and regression to the mean is a batch!

I also live in fear that I'll get a more reliable power source than the kickr snap and find it's been overreading 😵

Wouldn't mind a crack at that Irish Monday series Monday week as a last c race if I don't get upgraded before though

It's that balance between winning and progressing. In C we're both towards the top so, if we pick our races well we can pretty much always podium. Being careful, we can manage our power and stay there for ever ... but ... if we want to get faster I certainly will need to move up to B. I'll not win anything (unless I follow @BurningLegs and get my weight down) but I should surely improve my power output.

Definitely time for me to start picking B races where I think I won't get dropped by all riders in the first km :okay: I find the Hare and Hounds on flat courses are a great way to ride at B pace but without the pack actively trying to drop me

Good ride @Joffey. I think your old nemesis J.B. missed you in C-cat as he rolled in alone, almost 4 minutes after you.
I worked out that he'll be back in D by the middle of July, assuming he doesn't do another over 2.5 effort, as by then it'll be 90 days since his previous category busting effort. It does go to show how much he was coasting in our previous Monday battles though - despite finishing 4 minutes behind us yesterday, because for once he had to push for the whole race, he put out way more watts in C than he usually did in D for a poorer result.

Yes, my first time racing it and it was good fun! This segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/17267489

What is more obscene - the time or the average HR of 185 for a 45 minute effort!

That is an obscene improvement - brilliant work Nick. My best time is 1:00:49 although I haven't raced it and should be able to better my average of 233W on that effort.
