I got outsprinted by Manon Lloyd in this series, but given she was sandbagging I was pretty happy to finish in the same group!

Manon Lloyd has a bunch of outright KOMs near me - mainly because she crashed in the 2018 Women's Tour on the day it went through Warwick and she was being drafted back at pace by her team car!

Well that was tough. Pleasure to ride with you @Norry1 but a shame we were snoozing on that first climb!

That climb was brutal for me - not quite long enough for me to pull away from the bigger riders and short enough for them to punch up!

My power numbers in Zwift at the end of the ride confirmed how hard I had to work for that:

Pretty much equalled my best ever 20min and 5min power!

Look at that! That third time over the legsnapper Carl destroyed the field and took out a few big hitters.

I mistook the last sprint for the finish line like a chump but still, delighted with that if it stands!

Haven't seen the full results but looks like c group did well across the board so some serious team points. @Ketty averaging nearly 3w/kg

Team D got 3rd, 4th & 5th tonight - think @JLaw might replace me as 3rd with his great performance early doors in the Primes. Solid riding by @steverob keeping the rest of the pack at bay.

Had a new Cat D rider tonight - a guitar playing Italian called Simone. He kept up with JB all the way and was just pipped at the post. He's an 'almost C' so hopefully we don't see him next week

Discord was good then my headphones died.

Well done Team D :okay:

Pity I couldn't hold on for the final sprint over the line! Good race that, should have scored some good points for the team, and that hopefully takes you into the top spot :okay: I did manage to hold off one of my main competitors too, so hopefully I'll hold my position in the overall GC.

I think I took the first prime -- JB backed off when it was clear he wasn't going to take it. Afterwards, I was happy to go as slow as JB wanted in the hopes that Joffey and Steve might be able to catch up.

Unfortunately the first climb & sprint took too much out of me and I wasn't able to stick with JB on the second climb -- maybe, just maybe if I hadn't gotten into a sticky draft I could have kept pace on the 2nd time up and competed for the prime, but probably not.

I was able to latch onto another rider (possibly Simone) and catch back up to the lead pack, but the whole pack smoked me the 3rd ascent and I waited for y'all on the other side. I was somewhat concerned about the rider about 30s behind, so I was trying to keep us well ahead before the final climb. At one point the other rider passed Steve, but Steve managed to get ahead again and I was able to tow him a bit near the end. I'm not entirely sure how the points are distributed, but given I've only done 3 races, I felt it was likely better for you and Steve to get any additional points, so I didn't try to compete for the final prime or finish.

I try to do one race, one workout, and one outdoor ride per week. Workout is usually a sweet spot or over/under session. I don’t feel like I need to do any high intensity or steady state stuff in a workout because I get the high intensity stuff from racing and steady state when rising outside.
Not doing a structured programme at the moment though.

Just caught up on this morning's posts.

We've had suggestions of running this weekly, fortnightly or monthly. I was thinking of fortnightly for now, just to help it fit round people's racing schedules and the fact that better weather looks to be coming. That was my fourth race this week. I enjoyed it, but I expected to blow up on the last KoM and I didn't let myself down!

Of course, in winter we could step it up if people have more time available to them, with shorter days and worse weather outside, but we don't have to decide that now.

Useful inputs on Hare and Hounds timings and looking at Zwift Insiders course difficulty index. I think both of these could be helpful if we move to a new course, but for now I tend to side with those who've said that tweaking last night's handicaps and running the next event on the same course seems to be the best way to go.

Finally, on the choice of day. I picked Friday because the survey put Friday in first place. 2nd was Wednesday and 3rd was Thursday. Very few people seemed to want Monday or Tuesday. Since then, about 3 or 4 people have said that Friday may be a problem for them going forward. I'm quite happy to move to another day. For me, Wednesday would be second choice. I think about 6 of us are involved in the TTT event on Thursday, so that's going to knock a big hole in the teams. I'd have to back out of my road club's ITT on a Wednesday (which I'm one of the organisers of) but I could do that.

So, I'm suggesting fortnightly, tweak the handicaps, stay on the same course for now and maybe move to Wednesday if that's the consensus. I'm happy to look at some other courses and handicaps in the background and put some suggestions up if people want me to.

Views?
Wednesday better for me now, boss wasn’t happy with Friday.....

Well done all teams , don’t know what’s wrong with me but I seam to be going backwards
It can be tricky to know how to train and maintain your level or improve it. Your heart rate wasn't too high so there is capacity, but you know better than me how much you can push yourself and what is your max heart rate. There is always ups and downs so i wouldn't be worried too much. You have done lot of good work, lost of weight pretty much and get yourself on a good level. It sucks but it happens.

Enjoyed that although result wasn’t the best personally. Still new to all this though so happier with my tactics. App wouldn’t let me respond @Marino.g but I got your message and tactics worked, we blew 4 DBR riders away on the last leg snapper and I held them off to the line. Great performance from you and all the CC riders across A-D.
