Saying as you ask ...The team Ireland stuff is really impressive. Have you got the new jersey yet?
how Do you guys do your recording/livestreams? I’m on iPad but I assume you need a decent PC?
I knew there was an X in there somewhere. For some reason I had EVO X in my head but yes thats the one I meantIt's the UNO X CUP, just to be clear. 596 signed up as of right now, but I think there is still room for one more if you fancy a spin.
I've signed up for the B cat, with no hope of getting anywhere near the points. Only 30 first riders per cat get more than the 1 finisher point.
Had a read up about Team Ireland when I was looking at TTT stuff last week.Hi guys. Catching up after Another few days AWOL. Belated happy birthday @JuhaL!!
Again I have been busy with my Team Ireland group (do tell me to fook off if you like). Last week I organised an individual time trial series using 8 scheduled Zwift events all on the Tempus Fugit course. The series took each persons best effort over the week for points and I got the riders to tag their Irish province to make it more aboutwinning for your province than individual glory. Something to think about for here?
Ive also moved into Team management for our WTRL team TT espresso teams. I’m no longer good enough for our top teams but have enjoyed doing the recruiting and organising. I still race in one of our Frappe teams and this week we are targeting qualifying for the Premier league at espresso and frappe level. My espresso team now has two pro conti level riders so I think we will do well. If we don’t then I’m for the sack This weeks course is takes in the volcano and watopia KOM reverse so it will be tough.
this evening I was planning the ZHR masters at 1930 but I’ve just seen your post @Brusgaard about the evo cup. Looks interesting So I could be tempted as I’d like a series to get the teeth into.Maybe see you guys on course.
A bit long but here is my race report from yesterday:
Yesterday was the fifth event in the Zwift DBR Wahoo League. It is the series that many of us in the Cyclechat Forum target as a team event. I’ve attempted to do them all, but failed to start on #3 due to my ANT+ dongle packing up and failed to finish #4 due to a Virgin Media outage. So I hoped for better luck in this one.
There were less riders signed up, which may be due to another series starting up, which attracts many of the same (Danish) riders. However, there were 50 racers ready to go as the flag dropped in B Category. This included 6 Cyclechat riders which was a good turnout.
I had been out riding with Wendy earlier in the day, doing a 31 miler. This was very pleasant but poor prep for the race, in particular as I was approaching over-tired and at the top of my Training Load curve. Certainly my legs were not feeling very snappy as we started.
For some reason, maybe wishful thinking, I thought the start may be a bit slower than usual. It wasn’t! I had to work hard not to get dropped as I’d started at a lower power than usual and was losing the pack.
The race settled into a fairly hard, threshold sort of pace with power surges up the relatively small gradient changes. On one of these, up Whitehall after 2.5 miles I lost concentration, probably added to by a reluctance to put the power on, and found I was off the back of the group. There followed a hard 90 seconds or so chasing back on which did not help me much.
5 miles in and the front group was about 40 strong so it was a case of slow elimination due to the lack of significant climbs. The next mini selection was around 10 miles in when another 6 or 7 slipped off the back which unfortunately included @BurningLegs and @Alongo (Nick and Andy), leaving 32 in the main group with just me and @Milzy representing Cyclechat. I was still there but finding it tough. It seemed difficult to get the pacing right. I kept getting to the front unintentionally and then getting swept to the back.
I saw @Milzy lose the pack just after 17 miles, in the next mini selection after which the pack stood at 29 riders. We then approached the Mall and the sprint and for some insane reason, I put the hammer down (well, only a bit) and got 4th place in the Prime. Probably a really bad idea as I was already nackered!
It was a shame the race didn’t end with 2.8 miles to go because I was briefly in first place at that point. It was about this time that Wendy came into the room and was chatting to me, unaware that I was recording the race 😊. This soon became a rather one sided conversation as I was breathing out of my backside by then.
We hit the last half mile and I was in, but near the back of the group. I tried to up it for the sprint but could barely get over 400W as I was done in. I finished 22nd on the road, and 19th on Zwiftpower 1.951 seconds behind the winner. So overall reasonably pleased but definitely having a rest day on Tuesday and a nice Zone 2 ride on Wednesday.
Great to see an excellent showing for CC in Cats B, C and D. There should be a combined prize

I read up a bit more on this yesterday. There's one big thing in this that really would have made the difference when we were doing Cyclechat races a few months ago.
opens up a hare and hounds style cyclechat race with first across the line the winner.I read up a bit more on this yesterday. There's one big thing in this that really would have made the difference when we were doing Cyclechat races a few months ago.
You now have the option to hide all other riders when you set up a Meet Up. You only see the other riders in the Meet Up, so the problem of having others on the road goes away and drafting behind others not in the Meet Up goes away as well.
What this means is that its now possible to set up a private race using the Meet Up function almost to the same degree as joining a Zwift official race. Clearly, there's still no official timing and placing and no Zwiftpower support, so there's still a reliance on using Strava segments and spreadsheets to record results, but this looks like a significant improvement to me.
Maybe we should set up a Cyclechat race in a few weeks when people have time and give it a go?
Separately , if you fancy some edge of your seat tv to grip you and perhaps your wife too then I highly recommend Fauda on Netflix.
