I'll be there tonight - not sure how I'll fair. Hoping the competitiveness kicks in as the clock counts down
On paper this stage should be ok for me - little lumps just long enough to go with any attacks and hold on to the lead group .... so long as I don't get caught in any sticky drafts going up Piccadilly.
Attack point tonight, assuming you make it over Northumberland Ave lump before the laps start, are :
- Piccadilly ... but not just the climb, also the descent. A lot of people drop the power on the descent, but at the bottom, as you turn left from St James's St onto Pall Mall you need to add power back fast ... as you enter Pall Mall the incline kicks up briefly. Not for long, just a few hundred yards, but enough to get dropped if you don't up the power on time. My advice, as you're turning left after the descent then hit the power and keep it on until you're over the short lump.
- Just after the sprint on The Mall and leading up to Hyde Park corner. There is a little drag there of about 1%, not much, but if you're in the red after the sprint can feel worse. Don't drop wheels after the sprint, or if someone drops your wheel make them work to get back on
- A little climb on Birdcage Walk. Again not big, just a few hundred yards but I think it's about 3%. If later in the ride, and legs tired, watch for the attacks there.
I'll be watching our zombie friend Petersen, and looking out for any attacks from any B sandbaggers who might be able to pull me free from the crowd
Edit: just checked ZP and don't see any powerful B sandbaggers, but I guess there could be some signed up who aren't on ZP
6 CCers in C tonight
, 6 in B, 2 in D .... great turnout again
