What a shame that corona cut the season the way it did, i miss those spring classics. I think i 'm gonna try to find some material from youtube and live those past moments again.

Here's a question .... if you had the choice, what would be your preferred riding expertise?

Climber ala Froome, Nibali etc
Sprinter ala Cav, Gaviria etc
Classics/roleur ala Gilbert, De Gent, Sagan etc

I always thought Classics/roleur but now I'm a lot lighter I might be leaning towards the classics  Climbers also suggest GC and whilst I'd love to be able to, my endurance is pretty good on a single day, but declines significantly after 2-3 days.

For me that down to 2 things

Several summer trips to the Alps, Pyrenees, Dolomites and spring trips to Mallorca

Just the enjoyment of watching GC contenders go head to head on mountain stages as well as seeing whether breakaway riders can stay away.

Yep I've sone quite a few of them and it is then brilliant watching the GC guys go at the mountains you've been on.

I've never gone and ridden any classics courses - so I wonder if that would have the same impact on me?

I've ridden Flanders 3 times.

It certainly has an impact. Especially on the cobbled sections. Most of the impact goes straight through the saddle into your undercarriage. Its amazingly nice to stop at one of the urinals at the feed stations and get some blood flowing again 'down there'

But it's a great weekend with the sportive on the Saturday and staying on to watch the pros (men and women) riding on a Sunday. And then there's the Belgian beers!

Signed up for the DBR ride tomorrow - quite a low turnout so far.

Not sure on tactics yet ... I'm thinking I'll try to mark riders around me for the first lap but not try and break away with any B riders who join us, but then try and attack on the 2nd climb of Box. I'm working on the numbers, and as a decent climber (well, better than I was) will give me a chance of breaking free on that 10 minutes of up which will be enough to see me to the end :okay:
