Joffey if I can’t get my cat c status back to cat D on the next ride then I’ll ride with you and help you out as it’s pointless literally to race in cat c

Hopefully you'll get it back bit if not I think I'll need a bungee tow from you next week going up Box Hill twice!

Had my best 20 minute and 5 minute w/kg figures last night.

3.5 w/kg (262w) for 20 minutes
4.0 w/kg (294w) for 5 minutes

Let down again by the short term power figures. Needed to be around 5.8w/kg I'm guessing to hold the group I lost with @BurningLegs on the last KoM climb, which cost me about a minute on the run-in

4.5 w/kg (332w) for 1 minute
4.5 w/kg (335w) for 30 sec
4.8 w/kg (353w) for 15 sec

I think I'm shaping up to be an ageing B cat diesel!

Looks like there could be some fresh B cats to keep me company soon. @Whorty @Freelanderuk with @mjd1988 looking close as well

Def solid Cat B there Del- stronger than me mate👌

I don’t disagree with FTP tests , but I hate ramp tests . Did anyone see the Trainerroad live ramp test on youtube , chapeau to Nate , he buried himself .

I like to keep the intervals simple and think that Steven Seilers 4 , 8 , and 16 minute intervals are very effective . Riding these at around 88 , 90 , 92 % of max heart rate gets you very good quality high intensity but also doesn’t destroy you .
I find Zwift great for this as you can jump on the Alpe or maybe Tempus Fugit for a steady predictable profile . You can write these sessions in the workout section very easily too .
Do you always ride to heart rate on this?

I went off and read up on this, found a calculator based on 60 minute and 6 minute max average power and was going to come back and ask how you varied that value between the 4, 8 and 16 minute intervals.................... and then saw you mention heart rate!

Do you think you I could use the same 88, 90, 92% figures against the max power the calculator gave me? The range I get for Zone 3 is between 227 and 265w

Come on boys, let’s have some honesty- have none of you put on weight during the lockdown?
🤔😉

It started out as an experiment , I had a good hunch my ftp was around 260-270 , so , I thought I’d start conservatively and used 4 min @290 , 8 min @260 and 16 min @240 . These were roughly a bit over , at , and under threshold . I managed these fine so just tweeted up a bit and was at 250/280 and 300 before I “ lost focus” . I think the heart rate is a useful metric because youcan keep track of drifting as you progress through the intervals .Quoting Seiler , “ it’s just about collecting minutes at the high work rate “, which obviously boils down to being consistent. He also encourages you to ride your slower / steady rides easier than you’re probably used to , so I have been enjoying pooling around paths , canals etc on gravel bike. All in all it’s a recipe that I am enjoying .

First week of working from home, I was being really good. Stayed out of the snack cupboard and dropped another 2 lbs on top of the 6 I'd already dropped in the previous four weeks.

Second week I started to struggle a little more, but maintained weight, mainly because I started Zwifting every day rather than every other. Partially to try and get the 14 day badge, partially because I needed something to replace the fact that I was no longer walking to and from the station every day (which isn't much exercise, but it still counts).

Third week, everything just went out the window. Pigging everything in sight. Injury means I haven't been on the bike in 5 days. God knows how much weight I've put back on.

My way of keeping out the snack cupboard is don't buy any snacks. I know I have no willpower, so the only way for me to avoid snacking is to have nothing in the house but fruit
