I have that crankset about 5-years...aboout, it was included when i bought Quarq Riken R powermeter. I guess the price was close what DZero cost today with crankset. I replace Riken R because it didn't work any more, it didn't measure cadence and that's why it didn't show any power readings.

To be fair I just checked and Quarq with sram red is ‘only’ around £670 now so not much more than assioma’s. So I guess at that point you just have to decide what is better for you.

Yup, but been honest if i hadn't sram crankset already from the Riken R powermeter i might as well bought a power pedals.

Having cycled outside once in the last....18 months(!) I'm inclined to go for a direct drive trainer before a power meter.

That said I am hoping to get out more often at some stage, was about to start commuting until covid hit

Sounds logical. I think what most people (myself included!) do. Is buy snazzy wheels and electric gears before a power meter which is probably a bit back to front.

I keep thinking of going this route.

I'd need to change to Look cleats. It probably sounds daft but that's put me off as I've worn Shimano SPD-SL for years and I keep thinking that someone is bound to make power pedals compatible with SPD-SL. But they don't

I should really just bite the bullet and get on with it
Do you use a pair or single sided?

Pair.

I loved spd as it made walking easier but soon got used to new type cleats.

I think he’s referring to the road version of Spd’s (SL rather than mtb).

I took a while to move over to road bike shoes too. And I’d still take spd now over speedplays. Shame you can’t get them to fit on road bike shoes as a compromise.

like I said. I’m pretty sure Del was saying he used spd-SL not mtb. But who am I to stop cc going off on a tangent ^_^

@CXRAndy whenever I’ve looked at power meters I’ve seen enough negatives to put me off Garmin. But that’s not to say they’re terrible, just that I think there’s better options. Now I’m just hoping Garmin don’t take their err... reputation... regarding customer service, and transfer it onto Tacx products too.

Don’t go near the IQ2- I signed up early and then got my money back. They may come up trumps but it’s been a difficult journey for them and still no product.
