I love my GoPro. A bit like you Tommy, My wife got me one for a Christmas present and at the time I smiled and thought oh that’s an expensive ornament But I use it every spin now. I do short videos of our club rides which the boys enjoy and handy for catching those close passes and road rage incidents - I just hope it never catches the moment I do get hit.🤞

As well as cycling it’s great for documenting holidays and Hikes.

here is a shortish one from my commute - nothing too interesting just shows how awful some cycle lanes / infrastructure really is. I normally use the road but you can sometimes feel the pressure to use the crap Shared cycle path.

I thought I would bore you with my home movies saying as you’ve all got nothing better to be at!
Great bit of film.

Just shows how poor our cycle lanes are compared to say Belgium, where they are wider, well maintained and free from lampposts, bus shelters and street cabinets.

Temporary road sign placing just compounded it!

Its interesting for your own interest, to see what you might do differently next time.

Press 'Windows' key and the letter 'G' up pops the record features. Move the panels to places that don't interfere with the Zwift screen. They aren't recorded when playing back
Do you run Zwift in Windowed mode or Full Screen? I usually run Full Screen, but when I tried to record my ride this morning, Windows wouldn't have it - everytime I press Win+G, it dumped me back onto the desktop saying that this game is not supported for capture.

I dont use full screen, it may worth a try to see if that is the problem.

Speaking of boring people to death... 😁 View attachment 511167

I’m a chain, a cassette and some glue for my back tyre away from a finished bike. I swapped out the praxis chainrings first some carbon ones. Time will tell how durable they are! 🤞

Current weight without those three items is 5.66kg. I’m not sure it’s going to slip under 6kg but again, 🤞🤞🤞!
I run carbon chain ring on my TT bike, but its single. Id worry about messy front change, snapping a few teeth off.

Yes you can, you just need the GPX file from the ride. Once together all metrics can be displayed

Is that on Garmin or wahoo Andy? I know on Garmin it’ll time sync between the video and the metrics through their own software. But I didn’t know you can do that with wahoo?

The teeth are actually aluminium rather than carbon. I have seen a photo of a plate that has been snapped. But generally people say that you ‘should’ be ok unless you shift under load. Which I wouldn’t recommend even with standard rings. Apparently the shifting isn’t generally as smooth so that’s a compromise. But I kind of concluded nothing ventured nothing gained.

Looks like ZP is struggling with the volume of riders on Zwift

Little blast on the Whole Lotta Lava route was nice. Came in 7th on the road I think, but there were a few B's there so might be higher once the ZP results are updated. I worked with one chap quite a bit; I was feeling generous today (and didn't want to go over into B cat accidentally before Tuesday) so I gave him the sprint ^_^

Andy? I know on Garmin it’ll time sync between the video and the metrics through their own software. But I didn’t know you can do that with wahoo

I took the gpx file from Strava from memory. The ride was recorded by my Wahoo.

You must start the recording and wahoo almost simultaneously to keep it sync'd for merging

Garmin Virb software doesn't mind as long as the file is good. You can set kmh/mph and many other parameters.

Virb software takes a little bit of experimentation to work well. It took me about half an hour-Googling how to set certain aspects, then I was set for basic merge of video and data.

If you want to edit a ride, and keep the data in sync, you would need to merge the whole video together first- then edit after. You need certain software to chop clips and put them together.

I remember it took quite a long time to complie the whole ride+data, then use another software to cut and merge clips together to shorten the whole video down to something people aren't bored with. And add some music too.

This is where a fast processing computer comes into its own saving literally hours in editing

@<Tommy> & @CXRAndy - I use the Garmin Virb editing software - maybe your using the same Andy. I download the GPX file from Garmin Connect or Strava. There is a feature in virb edit to allow you to sync the data and footage. It is a bit fiddly alright. GPLama has a how to guide on his YouTube channel

I found the simplest way to maintain sync is simultaneously start the camera and Wahoo.

You could if you had a Garmin camera just chop the video, because the metrics are already imbedded in the video

I do use the Virb software- its free

I know Bkool has its problems but on the plus side you can upload those rides and we could all ride them.

I did once record a climb Randy. It was nauseous to watch, with my slow weaving going up hill. I think thats why a moped or Ebikes are very useful to maintain a speed to stop wobbliness

Or get Lee to ride up the climbs at break neck speed:okay:

Good film Andy.

I did Teide from Costa Adeje in 2014. I think you may have descended a little faster than me!

The roads are vastly improved over the last 4 years ive been going. All the national park has been resurfaced in super smooth black.

Its exhilarating to come down fast in the dry and absolutely nerve jangling in the pouring rain:ohmy:

One of our guides is a motorcycle fan and he is on another planet for cornering speeds.

The dangerous side is if you come off into the volcanic gravel its like instant flesh remover. Last year a chap came off into a field, dropped 2 ft off the road and literally tore part of his face off.

Thank goodness for insurance and local hospital with their reconstructive surgery £40k to rebuild him:ohmy:
