At least the first couple of sprints are before the climbs by the sound of this. This time round I really can't see myself staying with the first couple of groups after the second climb - once the gradient hits double figures I am toast, so I'm tempted to go all out for those sprints.
This is the same as Stage 6 of the recent ToZ - I had a time of 49:52 at an average of 222 watts (about 3 w/kg)
The 3 hill climb section took me 8:27 and 8:45 in total for each of the 2 laps, so a goodly amount of time to get dropped each time!
The first KoM took me 1:53 and 2:00 respectively for the 2 laps (240 watts for the faster time)
The 2nd KoM took me 0:47 and 0:43 seconds for the 2 laps (310 and 348 watts respectively)
The 3rd KoM took me 3:20 and 3:22 @ 233 watts
There are rest sections between each climb, but not much! None of the climbs are long, but it will feel like 3 sprints in a row
The key will be the 3rd KoM on the 1st lap as this will dictate the group you get into for the 2nd lap. I think I'll try to hold 250 watts for climb 1, 300 for climb 2 and push as hard as I need for climb 3 to get into whatever group I see forming. I think I have to try not to get carried away and chase the lead group up the first 2 climbs, only to blow up on the 3rd climb and lose wheels on the flats.
Need to get some workouts in tomorrow and the weekend .... 270 watt intervals of 1 minute with short 1 minute recoveries in between should do it
These are the recent times for the 2 laps from the ToZ. All very close (Del was half pace due to Docs orders). We could all easily end up in the same group for the whole 2 laps on Tuesday!
