That start was not cat c it was absolutely brutal, manged to keep in the main pack but eventually ended up with a nice small group as if i had stuck with the other group i would break the w/kg limit but as it turns out i have at 3.28 w/kg noticed a group of cat b riders coming up behind our little group and the plan was to latch on and move away from the group i was in it worked for a while a good tactic as i was only 15 seconds away from bob at one point legs are still sore

hopefully they'll be ok for the weekend.
With about 0.8 miles left i thought I'll try and make a break from the small group i was with and hit 6.5 w/kg legs on fire and had nothing left to give no sprint for me this time, managed 25 over all.
That course seems to just beg for a hard start and a harder pace.
Good to see several cyclechatters today! In fact, we had multiple riders in the lead group for a while which was even better!
My plan was to stick with Juanjo. I did some test laps trying different approaches to the last minute where he pulled away last time, so I had a reasonable idea of what I could physically do. Of course Juanjo didn't show up today, so my plan was shot. I didn't recognize any other rider that was likely to be in the lead group and quality on the w/kg. So I figured I'd just try to stick with the lead pack as long as possible and execute on my original plan for the last minute.
The battery in my garmin HRM is dead, so I had to hook up an old polar which doesn't talk ANT. Every time I looked it was in the mid to upper 160s. Of course I already knew I was pushing hard and watching the lap counter slowly count towards the end. The group eventually split and I was left riding with a couple other Cs and a couple Bs. I figured the Cs in our little group (myself included) could well hit the podium spots.
My wife decided to come in right as we were on the penultimate climb into the volcano and I lost my little group while trying to spit out that couldn't talk right then. I reeled in a couple C riders on the last lap, but I wasn't sure if they were dropped out of the lead group or were lapped. My plan for the last minute didn't really pan out -- there wasn't really a need to jam it that hard as nobody was around. I was trying to keep just enough effort to make sure nobody caught me from behind.
When the finish screen came up, it looked lke everyone ahead of me would DQ leaving me with 1st or 2nd. And it turns out Bobinski was just ~10 seconds behind me by the end It must have been a huge effort given it'd been a long time since I'd seen him.
The ZP results are a bit odd. I'm 4th, but two riders ahead of me have negative 20min watt values. The results aren't final, so it'll be interesting to see if that gets corrected.
