Oh yeah definitely - I'd still take the 10 seconds that the Tarmac Pro is quicker up the Alpe than the Tarmac S-Works in a race though! It's just a virtual bike avatar so nothing to lose in using the (slightly) quicker one? What if you lost a place in the league by 9 seconds using the slower bike :okay:
That's true but it also gives a satisfaction if you win the race/races with heaviest combination what you can find in Zwift.

I use an aero canyon bike with 88mm wheels for all races whether up hill or flat. I trundle around on a TT bike the rest of the time. Its to do with being able to see when I'm in the draft position. I like the Tron looks, but it would be useful to get an indication
The Canyon Aeroad is quite low down the list for combined speed on flats and hills (if that kind of thing bothers you!)

No not really, I understand its only a handful of seconds difference between most of the top frames, wheelsets. Id like to put deep rims on the Tron bike, but cant. Ill see what points I have. Ive about 12 free upgrades to check out. I haven't looked through them

The placebo effect is very real

Sort of. But it isn’t technically placebo because there is a small performance difference. And it’s the knowing that you’re giving yourself every chance that gives you a bit more belief. Me at any rate (this could just be me!). I do like to have things set up just right.

When I compare my stats to bridgy they are so close generally that 5/10 seconds could easily make the difference. In fact that is normally the margin that I win or lose by versus bridgy and whippet.

And Richard Carapaz
INEOS is clearly best team on a paper, all we need to do is wait which riders are selected to TdF. Kiryienka is probably doing hardest work again like so many times before and after that continues Kwiatkowski. Wout Poels seems to be in Bahrain-Merida currently.

@peterob (I think!), could we have a version of the table that shows whether we've gained time on those above us in the last stage or not?

(Or have I just missed that.....)

Pete posted the updated table at 10:30 today ..... it is quite a few pages back as it's been a bit busy on here today (I thought it was only me out of work this month?!? )

Thanks, I was wondering if there could be a column that shows how much time you've gained relative to those ahead of you in the last stage....as I didnt do s1, I want to know if I'm reducing my deficit!

Hard to do I would think, as not everyone completes all stages at the same time so the number may become meaningless. Personally, I'm watching Nick in stage 4 (assuming he can't do stage 3 now and will need to do it during catch up week) to see if he pulls back a bit of time on me. :gun:

Soooo much talk about best bikes, best wheels, bike swaps....my head is fried! So tonight I will finally get back to TdZ duties. My plan is to go out on the Specialised Tarmac Pro with Meilenstein wheels looking for biggest advantage on the climb and assuming draft benefit will keep me in the pack for the lead in to the hill and again on the downhill off the mountain. Then I’ll go for the bike swap in the jungle - I’ve upgraded to the Scott MTB - and for the finale I’ll jump on the Tron for the last hurrah. ^_^ Edit ... signed up for the 8pm :boxing:

I think I'm starting to suffer from overtraining (ironic for one as unfit as I)
Took an unscheduled rest day yesterday, did the TdZ cat D race today and felt terrible, think I'm going to have another couple of rest days to see if that helps.

This weekend I'm planning on doing long slow distance IRL to see if my time in the pain cave has paid any dividends.

I saw you as close as 31 seconds the time I saw you pop up in my screen. The group I was in was going pretty slow at times, I was looking at low watts on my screen. But no one seemed interested in taking turns at the front so I lost interest too. Another group of 10 or so caught up with our group and it picked up a bit. Maybe that was the group you had been in before you lost connection. Were you in a group?

I’m glad I read the posts during the day because it made me think that I’d need to hit a pb up the kom to have a chance against lee. In the end my time was only 16 seconds worse than his pb and I guess this made the difference at the end. This tour seems brutally hilly to me.

Really bad luck about the connection loss bridgy. I had it briefly near the start where I lost all the other riders but it only last 30 seconds or so and it was when I was climbing so it didn’t make any difference to me.

For what it’s worth milzy has the victory outright so it’s not a tie. I made the cardinal sin of taking my foot off the gas at the line and I saw him go past. I’ve done it a few times now and I just have to tell myself to push through when my brain is telling me to take it easy 😄
You were in beast mode throughout, I just raced smart, paced well, used aero tucked descents to rest, and timed my Sprint well with the best run in I've ever done with a bit of luck.
Was going to do some zone 2 this evening but still shattered so a few Italian lagers & an early night.
