TB,
Actually it was “vote” but Apple correct intervened.
Easy enough to get people to start at the right time. If I am 7 min slower than Lee I will start 7 min before him etc.
Are you thining a category based thing like the H&H where people set off in category groups, or everyone goes with an individual handicap time?

Stage 2 - Greatest london Flat - looks like a good option as it was the stage most people did so we have plenty of times to go on. London will be the guest world on Tues & Thurs next week and on the 19th & 21st too. Nice flat stage as well to encourage drafting groups to form and work together to catch or drop others

No need to join race events if you lookin at fast rides. Social events are fast enough if nearly 40km/h avg speed is requirement. Just finished one that kind of 90min social ride.

I was thinking individual like the old bkool H and H - forgotten what we called them. We will have the individual times and all set off in reverse order. But it’s just a suggestion.

I suggest that at the end of every monthly league we bottle on a course from the preceding 4 weeks and run a hounds and hares race. We will have all the times we need to set it up. Would be great to see us all coming together at the end perhaps with a multiple sprint finish. Even Tommy might fancy his chances 😁
That would be 'fun' :B)

I've just been through the times for stage 2 and there's some really obvious groupings - might work well as a team event. In fact looking at how close some of the times are many people would set off at virtually the same time as each other anyway. Suggested groupings below:

I think the 'problem' (sorry!) with these groupings is that the times were set on a TT. For some reason I get closer to the likes of Steen on TT rides than I ever do on rides where drafting is allowed. If I was grouped with Pete and Steen they'd be dropping me in the first few miles, or I'd be nothing more than an anchor, unable to work. I'd feel much more at home in the Blue team.

It does raise the question though why I seem to be better on TT courses vs those where drafting and group riding is allowed. Is it my inability to sprint with the group/punch power up, then recover? On a TT I pretty much ignore everyone else and ride to my own tempo so tend not to blow up as easily.

Of course, I'm happy to ride with Pete and Steen if they don't mind and are happy to drag my sorry ass around the course

CAN PEOPLE STOP JOINING RACERS JUST TO HELP OTHERS

Twice or 3 times I said I don't want to draft you @Whorty yet you still went in front.
I race under my own efforts this is twice now I've quit this course due to "others" the other was AAC "helping" at the back.

I'm right farked off.

Sorry Dean. Didn't see any messages. They must be private when in a meetup. I wasn't trying to go in front, i was trying to stay behind. My bad.

This could be your problem in group races. I find the hardest part in working in a small group like a race or team time trial usually immediately after you have done a big effort on the front and then try to get back into the draft. The effort really isn’t over until you have accelerated back up to the speed of the group, got into the draft and got your heart rate settled back down again. Lots of repeated small attacks aren’t good for a man of my age^_^

that’s a great idea. I like the sound of starting in small groups like Bridgy has collated, but maybe fewer groups to get better drafting effect / stand a better chance of the group staying together rather than splinter at the off. I think you would be best to pick one evening to do this as the culmination of the months league...winner takes all!

Couldn’t get on the bike tonight either. This man flu has really kicked my arse. Took a man up pill but that didn’t work either. Gutted as wanted to finish the last stage. Does the league close today? Being last day of month?? Love the idea of our own Hare/hound race
