These are the difference between the 2 and the 2T according to dcrainmaker. To my mind these are really very marginal gains. especially if you don’t train in erg mode.

– Stronger Magnets: This gives it the higher torque that eliminates the slip
– Thicker Wiring: This reduces the heat output and improves efficiency
– Changing Wiring Topology: This reduces vibrations but also reduces the sensitivity of manufacturing tolerances
– Skewing of Magnets: This reduces vibrations and sounds
– New Magnet Holder: This helps in manufacturing by increasing position accuracy, but also reduces vibrations

there are quite a few people on the Facebook neo group saying the neo 2 power readings are a bit off compared to neo 1. And also vary a bit from one trainer to the other. But... it seems to be a common theme amongst these communities.

Yeah, sounds like all they've (mostly) done with the T2 is fix the slip problem - which they really ought to have fixed with the Neo 2 in the first place - and taken the opportunity to improve a few other minor things too. As a result the Neo 2 is now discounted to make it a bit cheaper. Unless the slipping issue is likely to affect you lots I would say it's not worth the extra money. I have a Neo1 and I've felt the slippage thing maybe once or twice in all the time I've had it - I wouldn't say its a big issue at all personally (although I'm not the type of rider to do big bursts of power - I'm rubbish at sprinting!)

There are quite a few stories that the NEO2 is 20-30 watts lower than powermeters .... might be true. Might not be. At least no one can say now our trainers are over reading power ala the Pros

I bet they're not though! (with the possible exception of a small number of faulty units)

Im finding it OK Tommy. I'm using traditional endurance base program, to recapture my cardio fitness. Week 3 so far, then a easy week before jumping up a level. I've decided to do the odd race(noticed) to peak up my VO2 at the same time this winter. Planning to keep at it till Christmas, then onto a build program to add power. My average watts jumped around 10W from last week, so improving. I do use Zwift as the entertainment on the long rides.
I think I will be doing something similar. It's just sooo boring doing endurance rides on the turbo. Helps a bit if there's a suitable group ride to join.

There sure is. I was looking ahead to see if any other riders on the course were riding at 3w/k in hope I could ride and draft but they weren’t so hopped from one or the other. Still, it’s. A great workout and a 4w threshold increase😂
You and Tommy seem to have sneaked in from behind. Can't keep up with Tommy on the hills now and working hard to keep up with you.
Looks like you are as strong as before the surgery

You have been unlucky with cramp last week and an off day yesterday. Like Arnie, you’ll be back👍

There’s a lot of anecdotal stuff. “I feel like my power numbers aren’t right” or words to that effect.

There’s also a guy who’s quite prominent in the group who sells neo’s. He’s been testing them against a power meter and he’s saying some of the variation is quite stark.

for what it’s worth I’ve measured my neo 1 against my pm and the numbers were very similar between the two. And I haven’t suddenly lost a noticeable chunk of power using the bike which is effectively a T2.

I know some people who race on zwift use a power meter in edition to the neo. I did the same briefly and I did notice that the avatar reacts noticeably quicker. But in regards overall power it didn’t have any effect.
