How long before the race did you log into Zwift on your pc/apple?

I usually log in 15-20 mins before event. I usually see the event top right indicating 'going'. From there i just ride around until Join appears. It doesnt matter which course Im on I get the notification.

Experiment with a few timings to see if its that. Also check app permissions to see if it blocking Zwift sending join permission to Zwift central

You’re going to have to assume by the fact that I do actually manage to join the races most of the time that there isn’t some type of block on right? Prettt much every race I’ve ever entered I’ve done via the companion app.

I was pootling around with about 20 mins to go. I cycled for about 5 mins or so and no invite came up. I’d entered both the 6 and 7 races around lunchtime today.

The invite should pop up with 30 mins to go. On the odd occasion I get this happen, if the invite isn't there and it's less than 30 mins to the ride, go back into the app, unselect the ride, then reselect the ride. When I do this I get the invite pop up straight away. Not ideal, but it may solve these little quirks. If, like you say, it works most of the time then it's probably a connection issue or some kind of 'lag'.

Great time mate.

I just looked at your climb up the alpe on strava and it was ‘only’ 70 odd seconds faster than mine. So you were loads faster than me on the build up. Who would of thought it would be that way around!
I did try something different tonight - I thought I may as well burn all the matches at the beginning and just see what was left at the end

- ash !

Regarding your issue on joining , before you click on ride , have you scrolled down the list of rides on the right top to make sure there is a tick with going beside it ? If not you can just press join beside the ride description

Seeing that got me thinking as to what could of been if I’d of started with the faster guys rather than right at the back on my lonesome. But I’m not a big believer in if’s and buts so not really worth much!

And yes mate, it was showing as going on the main zwift page.

I saw that you had entered the 6&7pm tour when I looked on zwiftpower earlier so it knows your “in”
It’s a strange one

And I am a big believer In getting there early , having a fast start then grabbing groups - it’s a lot easier than trying to jump forward

Tommy, I think you've got a few methods suggested now by Carl and Lee to ensure you get to the start line

Andy. Is there anything in what I have said so far that makes it look like user error on my part? It seems I am joining the races using the same method as most others.
So far nothing I have done, and I have tried all the things that have been suggested so far, have ensured that I get to the start line.
Most of the time it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.

I think Carl’s opinion that it is some type of lag / connection issue is the one that makes the most sense to me. Just because of the inconsistent nature of the whole thing. But then I have good internet connection generally and my laptop works fine so as Berty says. It is a strange one.

Tommy, have you ever try to unselect the event from companion app when you do your warmup/free ride and reselect again?.

edit. don't know how many options you have but make sure that your companion app is same wifi network as your computer.

Yes bud. Carl suggested that to me last time so I tried it tonight. No good. So then I left Zwift, logged back in, and re joined the race from the main page. Then when I started riding the join button wasn’t there. After a couple of minutes after the race had started the button appeared. So I then joined the race.

I know this sound silly but is time correct in your devices?. It sounds like that if that button appears way too late.
