League table updated following yesterday's efforts. Well done to all those who have braved stifling sheds, garages and lofts this week to tackle the Alpe!

Lee has once again shown his prowess for roads pointing skywards, currently clear at the top following an impressive Alpe stage :notworthy: and plenty of other strong showings from those that have tackled it so far :bravo:

Aim tonight was anything between 1:30 and 1:35 .... well how wrong was I !?!?! Smashed it in 1:24:43 :wahhey: Legs felt OK, probably due to 3 days rest. Chest still a bit gunky, so tried to keep power around 230 for the climb. Worked hard in the run in to the Alpe. Got into a group and pushed it to stay with the and get a good speed advantage via draft. Worked well. Was hoping to get to Alpe start by 30 mins, but got there just short of 24 mins. I therefore knew I had 6 mins to play with on the climb to finish in 1:30 as I felt confident I could climb in about an hour. Climb in the end just over an hour, but not too bad as didn't cane it.

Did this on a new NEO2 which I exchanged today with Halfords (superb service, wasn't expecting this until Monday). Now I get what everyone talks about when they say the NEO is quiet! My original NEO2 was no more quiet than the Kickr .... everyone always said all you can hear is the chain but my old NEO2 was much more noisy. This new one is very quiet - even HID noticed the difference. Confirms to me that the original was faulty. Hopefully this one stands up to use :okay:

What is nice though, is that I've now used 2 different NEO2's and climbed the Alpe with both. PB on original NEO2 was 58 mins, but this was will a slow roll to the Alpe and so fresh for climb. Today I raced for 24 mins to the Alpe and climb was only 2 mins slower. Gives me great confidence that I am really achieving these numbers

Bit of a ramble but I'm feeling pretty smug

@peterob can you add me to the league please :okay: 1:24:43 Thanks

Speaking of GC watching today's giro hasn't exactly inspired me to take on stage 7
Just watched the highlight show ... no spoilers on who won ... but my god, that final climb was brutal :B) If anyone hasn't watched it yet, def recommend it :okay:

Awesome time there. What power did you average up the Alpe?
237. Well below the 261 I did for my PB, but I did race for 24 mins to get to the Alpe so actually pleased. gives you a good target to chase. All I can say is, get in a good group in the run in to the Alpe as I think you can lose/gain quite a bit of time in that section. I probably worked harder than I planned, but I think it was worth it :okay:

At last a GDI stage winner built like me!

EDIT: In fact he makes me look almost obese.
As my wife said ... he's all legs and arms

I was averaging about 220W the other day when I bailed. I checked my all time power curve and saw my 90 minute best was 228W so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised.

My time up the alp was only 5w less than my pb. Bit of a shame I had no one to draft with on the lead in but I guess it bodes well for the future. I’m still slightly miffed about the two plus minutes I lost at the start. But in an earlier stage there was something odd about the timings, so maybe it’s leveled itself out in that sense.

I’m done now with the TOW even though I’m going to finish a stage short of completing. So congrats to everyone that finished ahead of me and commiserations to everyone who finishes behind me! Good fun, thanks to all those who pushed me to go faster and cheers for the spreadsheet Pete :okay:

I’m probably going to be out a lot more on my bike from now on, trying to get in shape for the alpes with my two whippet riding compadres. But I’ll try to join the meet-ups if there is enough interest through the summer.

Looking at the times on the league there are a few of us hovering around each other at the moment so next winter should be interesting.

much the same for me now , gonna try and get out more but up for meet ups - enjoy them a lot more than these big tour things as i think a lot of the results can be influenced by how big the group is - the stage 7 for me highlights the point as i was being dragged along like billie-o at the beginning in a fairly big group and thats where the time difference was
on saying that , i have really enjoyed it and thanks again Pete for the spreadsheet
is it shallow of me to print it off and hang on the wall ?
quite willing to print off and post to others as well if you want  what are friends for !

The big groups and racing at different times does skew the results a bit. But your times were consistently good. If you think that’s me giving you a complement by the way you’re wrong. I hate your guts.

Well done I suppose

(That’s all you’re getting ^_^)
