Having to reroute the internet connection as the current room it comes into is having the ceiling down due to asbestos, got to look after these builders. This on top of not being to get out of the office early. Also will have to hunt down the Amazon box that contains the RG6 coax extension cable needed for the first part of the excuse. And my wife is working late so I have to cook dinner. Also have to be in the office for 5am tomorrow as the electricity board are cutting power to the building. Loving this week so far.

That was so long winded kip I feel obliged to give you 4 out of 10. Well played sir!

The rest of you get a 1 out of 10 I’m afraid. Lars... school boy mistake taking a dentist appointment on a race day... Most un professional!

Us slower peeps might want to think about how we approach this. Let the fast boys, Paul, lee Pete and Tommy go, and then work as a larger group to haul them back in? We get the benefit of the bigger draft and a faster pace and wont have to work so hard individually. If I and others cannot keep the pace up then we will fall off but will have had the benefit in the meantime. Meanwhile they (boo, hiss...) will be having to take longer turns to keep up their advantage.

Sounds like a plan. I’ll stick with you guys

For me this will be the most interesting aspect, as most time I'm clinging on to a faster group but here we will have to be taking turns! Also will be interesting to see if there is a large peloton of C's that can wind in the faster riders or if everyone sprints out the gate and clings on where they are. You'd wonder if we could make a c "team" and send someone up the road to do no work while the rest chase.

The other riders on the course will be the big wildcard

P.s. I am on call but still hoping to do the race, if I drop out suddenly it's because the phones went off (or I don't want to take my turn)
I know what would work best for us and give us a chance of chasing down some of the B's, but I suspect I know what will really happen

There are also enough lumps on the course to break up any groups too. The first one coming about 7 mins in when we do the first section of reverse EPIC to get to the gate into the Jungle section. That climb, plus the extra gradient after the gate, takes me about 9 minutes - plenty time for someone pull away or get dropped.

It's then about 5 mins of descent into the Jungle to get to the start of the Jungle circuit. So a bit of time to rest, and if you're with someone else by then to also work together to get some speed up.

After that it's the climb through the jungle. From where the climb starts to the far side of rope bridge this is just over 6 mins for me. Again, a place where we will drop or get dropped.

It's a short rest then of only about 2 or 3 mins before it's climbing out of the jungle and back towards the Jungle gate. Not a hard climb, but a good 5 mins of 3-4%. Once out the gate it's back down into the town for the rolling loop to the volcano and back to the start/finish banner.

If we still have a group when we're coming back down the EPIC KoM then any lone riders within a minute of us will be easy meat. But I think we could be easily disbursed by then.

At all times though, keep looking behind you for a group of faster riders to latch on to for that bit of extra speed, Those neutral zwifters could be telling tonight :okay:

Not that I've thought any of this through, you understand

The other night, about 35 min in i joined Dels group. Some were prepared to work. Another Pole (naturally:smile:) was and a few others including Del but too many were content to stay in the bunch. It was frustrating. Perhaps some were on the limit but it was too big a group for that to apply to everyone. We would take a turn and push past 3w/k and begin to haul your group in but then while taking a breather the pace would drop because most would not keep the pace up from the front. So, as long as we rotate, share the effort, rest in the draft when necessary, we can get as many as close as possible to the fast boys. Burn bright !

We did a similar route the other night, but instead of heading back to the start line we climbed the volcano KoM. I'm getting to know these courses quite well now; where I struggle, where I can 'relax', where I can attack. I take each segment as it comes and know roughly how much effort and how long each one takes. I know, for example, how much I can put into the EPIC KoM tonight up to the jungle and if I'm at my max and Bob or Martin is pulling away, I'll know there is no point going into the red as I'll bonk at some point so I'll just tempo a safe pace and stick with who ever is still near me.

The good thing about the jungle is there are always decent numbers of other riders, so even if we get isolated there could still be the potential to draft and rest.

I'm excited .... looking forward to taking Bob's scalp again

I think we'll split on the Epic KoM. Until then it should be fairly OK to stick together, but the stronger climbers will pull away there. You, Martin and Del are stronger climbers than me so I'm expecting to be lagging going into the Jungle :surrender:

I have no idea how i will do tonight. No consistency at the moment.
The draft works on the incline up the Epic and then up to the jungle. I think we all benefit by sticking together at least until the beginning of the descent into the jungle when we can rest. Even if i am able i wont look to pull away on the jungles ascent because the group or whats left of it would inevitable catch me on the descent-its just not worth the effort.
