A report on my non ride today, or for nearly a week now.
Dose of flu, but not just any kind, this is man flu, the very worst kind.
I envy womenfolk, they don't have to suffer like this.
Aching all over, even my teeth ache.
Nose red from all the tissues.
Last night coughed so much I thought I'd do myself a permanent injury.
Anyways, feel slightly better now I got all that off my (sore) chest.

It’s a nice sunny day, I went for a little ride on the King of Pins in search of a bacon sandwich, after a few miles I gave up, bought some bacon from the farm shop and cooked it on the camping stove out side my house. ( love bacon, don’t like the smell in the house) . A little under 10 miles, a perfect day for a ride on a 57 year old shopping bike.

A 24 mile road bike ride with pleasant motorists today.

It’s funny living here, hemmed in by the sea, not enjoying the ride into Plymouth I’m stuck with a little corner of the South Hams.

On of my favourite lanes is the pine ridge road up to Ugborough. It has a good climb, it’s quiet, stunning views in both directions. Perfect!

From there it was up to Wrangaton, then Bittaford, the edge of Ivybridge and back through Ermington.

Lovely weather.

A 90 minute ride out to a friend's house, just outside of Tunis. I have a longer ride planned for tomorrow and didn't want to deal with navigating out of the city first thing. Navigation is limited to Google Maps walking routes and tomorrow's route includes off road sections.

A 66 mile ride today from Cambridgeshire to north Norfolk in stunning sunshine with a rare tailwind all day.
The first mile leaving my village (below). And no, I don’t travel light!

IMG_1038.jpeg

Riding through Wicken Fen, a typical fenland roadblock, the lovely, docile Konik ponies.

Then, my heart sank as I saw the potentially ride spoiling ‘Road Closed’ sign between Ely and Littleport. But, it was only closed to cars! ^_^🍾 5 miles of traffic free riding followed on what is normally a fairly busy stretch of road, full of drivers with, shall we say, questionable driving skills.

Then on into Norfolk via Ten Mile Bank, a bizarrely very angry old man in Hilgay ( laughing at him didn’t seem to calm him down for some reason!) . After leaving the fens you climb into the west Norfolk ’Alps’, at least thats what it feels like after 35 miles on the flat- this is the Nar valley near West Acre.

Then the final 20 miles via Massingham, Rudham and Syderstone to my destination of North Creake near Wells. A very enjoyable ride, and I’m always amazed my 56 year old legs are still somehow up to the job.
