A Tuesday night Warren ride, from west to east. Lots of boats moored in the river, but hardly anyone on the Warren.

It was beautiful.

2 hares, a barn owl and the first colourful sunset in ages.

15 miles.

That's an incredibly beautiful part of the country and what must be the best 'local loop' anywhere :becool:.

Another lovely day so decided it would be rude not to go cycling. Headed out via a circuitous route including a number of new roads to the familiar Mewith Lane and Keasden. Then began the first big climb of Bowland Knotts which I quite like as it’s nice and steady with good views back to Penyghent and Ingleborough. From the top it’s a fast descent through Gisburn Forest with its mountain bike trails and then an undulating route to Slaidburn and lunch. Riverside cafe served up a nice bacon bun in the sunshine. There were quite a few cyclists including a group from Ilford, Essex. Out from Slaidburn with cafe legs I crawled up the second big hill of Cross ‘o’ Greet. This is a bit harder than Bowland Knotts but the winding road up the Hodder valley has an alpine feel. The views from the top looking north captured a panorama from the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District fells and a glimpse of Morecambe Bay. All down hill after that fortunately! 101 km with 1660 m of climbing.

Pictures of Ingleborough, Bowland Knotts summit, View south looking to Pendle, view from Cross o Greet.

Sunny commute this morning along the river and across Baits bite again before rolling in to Cambridge via a busy Newmarket Road.

Out through Lockerbie to Boreland and back through Lockerbie on the way home. Route check some of the route for my CTC led ride next weekend. Grabbed a meal deal and coffee at Tesco on the way home (forgot my points card so had to pay full price) and finally stopped to look at the Ukranian POW Chapel that I've passed the signs for so many times before.

I cycled out to the Lickey Hills for the first time since 2010. An amusement arcade, where generations of children blew their pocket money, is now a bar.

On the way back I was nearly hit by an ebike on the wrong side of the road. A few hundred metres later somebody told me that I should have rung my ****ing bell as I passed him. I recognized him as a former policeman who used to grope barmaids in my local.

I think a lot of pedestrians have hearing problems. Using my bell has no effect for many of them.
