95 miles in glorious spring sunshine. Route was the highest village in Scotland - Wanlockhead via a few other climbs in the process. It was a big bunch, 17 at one point, so the pace was pretty decent. Even had my best bike, the Colnago, out for the first time on UK roads this year.

Here's the route

I'm bushed from a really good FNRttC and a really tough SMRbtH..in fact this time it was a Thursday night ride to the coast and a Friday Morning ride back to home.

152 miles for the ride. The outwards journey was easy enough as the Friday Night Rides are ridden at a nice rolling 'conversational' pace. The ride back to home though, that's usually hell for leather, go for it. The undulating terrain for the first half of the return along with the headwind made for some thigh busting riding. My legs are really feeling the burn and I have been home 3 hours

So. 152 miles, 10 and a half hours in the saddle.
11th Century ride for 2014 and 114th Century ride overall.

Fair play to you though! 30mph average, I'm lucky to get that going down a hill.

Cheers, entirely my own fault so can't complain, was so focussed on my nutrition timing, warm up etc I totally cocked up re the location of the start, from the HQ. I'll do an official 19 no bother this season I would think! Didn't believe my club mates when they tipped me for a 19 today, when I ended up actually covering the course in 19.59 I was shocked! Feels good, even if my official result is 20:11 (big PB as my previous PB was 21:22).

Having a race tomorrow is a good thing in a way, gives me a chance to redeem myself a little without having to wait a week, makes me feel even more up for it!

I rode into Cambridge from Hardwick with a friend and we picked up my mate on Barton rd. then came the worst part of the ride out along the A603 to Barton. We went off towards Haslingfield.... All the locals will know where we headed next....... We took a right turn UP, yes up Chapel Hill and down into Barrington. We passed 3 people going up and there were a good half dozen coming up the other side. It's a popular stretch here in the flat lands!
We then turned right towards Orwell, the headwind was a bit tasty here. 100yds or so along the 603 before turning for Wimpole. We saw lazy lambs and their mums and shire horses wearing their coats, it must have been chilly! At the start of Old Wimpole hill we lost Stuart for a bit, apparently with gear issues. I turned and free wheeled down to see if he was ok. Turns out he was, so I spun my bike around and did the hill from a standing start. This hill isn't very long, but it packs a punch.
We then joined the A1198 or Ermine Street if you like that better.
Nicky swung off for home in Hardwick but Stuart and I turned left for the Gransdens. Stuart was saying his legs were gone, he's had a 3 week lay off with footballers knee. We came back through Bourn, then up the pointless hill into Kingston, then to Toft and Comberton. At Comberton I turned up Long Road for the hill back to Hardwick saying my goodbyes to Stuart.

It was bloody chilly, but excellent to be out with friends. A nice 40 miles.^_^

Parents went to Stourport yesterday so I had a ride over to meet them for a burger and cup of tea. Went out via Belbroughton and Hartlebury, coming back through Wychbold and the edge of Alvechurch. Ended up doing some accidental cyclocross on a bridleway at Tardebigge. That's the inherent danger of winging it putting faith in mobile apps for on-the-fly route planning.

58 miles in the end. http://app.strava.com/activities/131196110

10 mile TT this morning!

I prepared very well, warmed up, felt great, my legs felt amazing, I knew I was going to ride well, then I realised I had screwed up my timing and confused myself re the start location in relation to the HQ thinking it was as close as the one used last time, it was much further though queue a mad dash to get to the start, arrived on the line right at the last second to be met with the holder pulling my warmup top off me and the timekeeper saying "Go", no time to be held up for a proper start etc, I then confusingly said "Did you say go?", "yes, GO!", I fumbled away from the line panicking, failing to clip in and basically being right plank! Once going though, absolutely caned it, hit the turn with a 30.4 mph average, railed it round the turn (quite surprised by how I got round there, I am usually rubbish at corners etc) and then got back on my aero bars reminding myself to be as aero as possible knowing that most other riders had been moaning about the hard headwind on the way back. Really pushed hard on the way back, was nearly being sick by mile 8 but kept it down and was going fast, there was definitely a headwind but I kept aero and kept pushing as hard as possible! Crossed the line with 19:59 (30 mph average, the magic milestone) on my Garmin according to my button pushing however due to my doofusness arriving late to the start without time to be held up for a proper start, my hesitation and with the messy start my official time was 20:11! Oops!

At least I got to the start in time and didn't get a late start penalty and it is still a massive PB! Plus I put out a power PB of ~390W for the 20 minute effort!

As coach says, it's done now, time to rest up and recover ready for tomorrow Association Championship 25TT!

That's fast with a capital F. Where did that time put you overall?
