Puzzle game procrastinator!
Hmm ... the Deda Dog Fang had come loose and had moved. I have put it back where it should be and will see if the clicking noise has gone away.

When I was checking the DF, I saw that my transmission on the bike is a mess. The Cannondale doesn't get used much in bad weather, but that means that it does see quite a lot of dry, dusty conditions. I had been experimenting using chainsaw oil to lube the bike but will stop the experiment now. The oil is too thick and gloopy for dusty roads so despite trying to wipe off surplus oil before rides, I have the equivalent of a grey grinding paste wearing the transmission. Back to nice lightweight oil for my bikes!
The clicking/ticking noise had improved slightly but was still present. I discovered that it was mainly due to the chainring bolts not being quite tight enough. They were ok most of the time, but hard efforts caused the annoying noise. After tightening the bolts, I was able to sprint up this short, nasty climb in silence ...

... from the bike, that is - I was making a gasping, wheezing sound, punctuated by primal grunts!

As for the chain lube ... I remembered that I had some dry wax lube spray and used that after cleaning the gunk off my transmission. Much better!

Ride out to clavering lakes with a few friends, great ride was a bit nippy and a bit of wind, had a nice meal at Clavering then rode home, ended in the Salsbury pub with a nice pint of Peroni. nice day.

That's fast with a capital F. Where did that time put you overall?

Results just came out, officially I was 19th. My clubmate did an awesome ride for 3rd, 19:26, now that is a fast man in action! Another clubmate 92nd with 21:30.

This forums @endoman was 20th with 20:16, only just pipped him! It was a PB ride for him too. Nice ride and congrats on the PB. Didn't see you around the HQ so didn't manage to say hi, sorry!

Blue skies meant a great run out today! (and a cyclists tan!)
I cycled down past the Kelpies, around Abbotshaugh Woods and then back along from Lock 1 to 16 and up to the Falkirk Wheel.

This was on the outskirts of the woods, along side the River Carron...

The Wheel was HEAVING today, towpaths not too busy but more so than usual.
Decided to cycle through the Falkirk Tunnel...I usually walk. There was a barge just behind me, about to enter the tunnel as I was a few yards in.
It's dark in there with only a few lights, and I didn't have lights on the bike.
Anyway, I got into a slow rhythm, and then the most almightily sound!! Yip, the barge sounded it's horn, I wobbled and scraped my arm along the brickwork! That however, was my only injury from today.

Now for a pic from the Wheel - my lad took it and to be honest, he's rubbish!!
I mean, look how huge I am in it! He could have got my size 10 side!!
Anyway, joking aside, I am losing weight and I will get there!

What's your route?
Pretty straight forward, because it's the straightest with least junctions/traffic lights I could find and as near to 40km as dammit. The main piece is straight up from Oakley Rd, past Biggie Hill airport, straight down Westerham Hill to Westerham on London Rd, then as it peeps out into the main village, turn around and do it backwards. No faffing

Westerham Hill is a delight on the way back. If I wasn't clipped in, I'd get off and kick the damn thing up quicker.

Nice one - Rather you then me...

Well the promised wall to wall sunshine never emerged but a good ride to Hunstanton none-the-less; especially the last 71miles at 17mph without too much effort (wind driven) and the first 41miles chummed by a mate at 17.4mph; it was just the 25 in between that was slow :-/
