The Glue that binds us together.
49 mile club ride this morning, a bit windy with a lot of wet leaves on the country roads, the wind made it feel like it was a lot further, was not cold though, having trouble with what to wear at the moment, feels cold when i leave home but after an hour or so it warms up. wore a gillet yesterday for the first time and that worked well.^_^

So far, about 10 miles getting lost from Alcudia to Port Pollensa, Majorca. 25 degrees or so and just having a beer and a slab of choccie cake. Lots and lots of roadies out here but we're only on Orbea hybrids so a nice relaxing morning so far. About 10 km back so Alcudia once the beer's washed down. Enjoy the weather, its hell here.

It was a bit breezy here in the Shires, but once the rain stopped, I reckoned I should grab the chance of a few miles as I have to go to work this afternoon

I thought The Washlands (Northampton Flood Relief area, old gravel workings) would be fun in this wind. Access to the area is via the lock.

It can be quite bleak there, and today was no exception! Very mild though, and I got quite warm pushing against the wind on the exposed banks of the lake.

It's a lovely area to cycle around but during winter or rainy periods, it fills up a bit so this bit is either under water, or swampland!

I did see one other person out today, walking their dog, but everyone else must have stayed at home.

The far end of the lake has a jetty for some unknown reason. Maybe it's still a bit of the old gravel workings or summat.

I call it Goose S**t Point.
Guess why!? lol

It was only a 10 mile ride to stretch the legs, but I got a KOM on the way back on a short local hill :becool:

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.

Just a short battle along the beach to the evil cafe of much cheesecake this morning. Very windy with sporadic deluges but mostly dry...

The beach shelters were full of the usual drunks interspersed with elderly posh peeps caught out in the storm, and at the cafe I got dragged into a conversation about the speed limit because of the 20 is plenty sticker on my hat.

So I'm not claiming this as a ride, more of an excuse to eat cheesecake.

Another short ride, but not quite as slow as the last one. I headed into town and did my loop through The Quarry and out towards Heathgates before returning via the inner ring road.

There was an annoyance near the start when I found that the hawthorn hedge down Pulley Lane has been heavily cut back (it's that time of year again) and as usual no attempt has been made to clear the clippings. I checked the tyres and they don't appear to have picked anything up.

Taking it gently I headed to the Frankwell area of town and into The Quarry which was surprisingly busy given that it's a bit cold and blustery out. Half term helps of course. The river is high due to all the rain in Wales the last few days and the towpath is already flooded in places.

On the way back a couple of showers blew across :rain:so I got a bit damp. It was still an enjoyable ride though.

12.5 miles this time at 11.2mph average (still taking it easy)

Finally looking properly autumnal on Victoria Avenue.

Down by the weir at Castlefields and the sign speaks for itself.

Meole Brace - not yet enough water to stop me getting through the underpass.

Caught in a shower on the way home - the end of the rainbow appears to be at Sharpstone Quarry.

If you are going to take a day off to relax in the week before a big race at the weekend then today was the day. We set off out with no real plan, just to relax and enjoy the warm sunshine. Unfortunately I somehow managed to head into the lumpy stuff which dr_pink of course enjoyed while I grovelled along in her wake.
This is a little 20% hill we had just come up

And another one in the background, this time we came down it for a change, a real buzz and the surface is perfect

Red Kites in abundance today, but the most amazing sight of the day was when a family of 7 or 8 weasels ran across the road in front of us, half way across they suddenly realised we were there and half of them turned and ran back. We stopped just past where they had crossed because I thought if we kept quiet some might cross back again to rejoin the group. Indeed they did, 2 of them at different times, boy were they quick, I did manage to get this on the camera phone so not great, sorry.

You do wonder though as you cycle around English country lanes what a cyclist from the continent who think they have mastered English makes of this,

Stopped for a tea at Whitwell by Rutland Water, the car park was barely a third full, a testament to Anglian Water's policy of putting barriers on the entrance road and charging, even if you just want to go to Rutland Cycles, completely bonkers.
42 lumpy miles, but beautiful, and barely a car.

The sign "plant crossing" makes me laugh still .... I've only lived in the UK for 30 years
