Two rides, yesterday I finished work at dinner time got home changed bikes got my cycle gear on and did a 44 miler over to Market Bosworth Water Park, unfortunately the Cafe was closed so had to divert to the Market Bosworth Battlefield Cafe, great ride out with a tail wind most of the way, was flying, most of the way back I was into the wind, I set a cog, a rhythm and a cadence that I could maintain and did gear and rhythm home, lovely short ride but hard going. This morning I dropped the Mrs off at the station for her day trip then went home got changed got the bike out and headed for Earlswood, into the wind most of the way there, gear and rhythm again, and could feel the previous days ride in the legs, got to the Cafe just as it went dark and started to rain, came out just as it stopped and the sun came out, the heaviest shower of the day and I was in the Cafe, great timing, flying before the wind most of the way home, I did 53 miles and I'm knackered now but I enjoyed the ride.

Did the Braveheart fundraising ride today. A short (44 mile) route, so my trip to and from the start in Kilmarnock more than doubled the total distance ^_^

An enjoyable day on the rolling terrain of East Ayrshire, and the strong tailwind all the way home was very much appreciated :surrender::bicycle:

I did the Braveheart ride today as well. I also rode to and from the start which gave me a total of 103 miles. I was glad of the tailwind on the way home as the legs were a bit tired after hammering round the Braveheart course

72 Miles for me today out to the picturesque village of Bunbury. Met @400bhp at Ashley, the weather forecast which was for light rain showers was a little conservative and the showers were more of a fairly peristent heavy drizzle:rain:. By the time we got to Middlewich the rain had stopped. Then I punctured, a reasonably straight forward repair and we were back on our way, however as we travelled across the Cheshire plain we seemed to be heading towards some sort of mega storm:eek: closely akin to the type of thing you would see on some American storm chaser reality programme with the blackest of clouds. Fortunately we skirted the edge of it with 5 minutes of rain. Arrived at the cafe for much needed hot drinks, sandwiches, more hot drinks and cake. Swiftly followed by some discrete sock wringing out.

Time to head back. As we set off my Garmin switched off and when I restarted it showed I had done 42000 ft of climbing  and I had lost Mr 400bhp. After getting myself back on to the route, we headed back TTTing back across the plain. We split near Warrington and I headed back past Tatton Park.
When I arrived home I stuck my wet socks and shoes into the utility room much to the mirth of my two kids who find my winter mud tan lines rather amusing...........

My ride today was an early morning damp affair.

I set off in the dark with rain gently falling. The forecast suggested the rain would not last long and sure enough it stopped within 10 mins. I decided to just have a steady relaxed ride. No pushing hard, just turning the pedals at whatever seemed the right speed. An easy ride. I was surprised to see the average was 15 mph.
Hardly an incident packed ride but a couple of things of note happened.
I was pulled over by the police for going through two red lights one after the other (quite right too) and told I must behave myself. Well the junctions are wide, clear views all round no traffic coming, and the lights there don't pick up cyclists. No cars coming but a police van 50 yards behind me. Then a further 5 miles on a rabbit ran into my left foot. A baby one I think because it felt small and fluffy. Just as well my foot was at the bottom of the stroke otherwise it would have been run over by the back wheel.
Dawn broke as I was crossing Towton Moor where 450 odd years ago something like 28000 souls lost their lives in the Battle of Towton. People still leave flowers at the foot of the memorial by the side of the road. Into Tadcaster, home of John Smith's and Samuel Smith's Breweries. On to Bramham (of Horse Trials fame) and Thorner (of no fame at all) then a steady push back towards home into the wind.
Ready for bacon and eggs now I reckon.

A quick 14 tandem km to visit a few local hamlets we'd not seen, before it chucks it down this afternoon. As we were on 'C' roads the ups and downs were more up and down than usual.

Passed the 'plan d'eau' at Saillat-Sur-Vienne - lots of people fishing. This season's colour is red
