three wheels on my wagon
just inspired me to figure out how to get the photo's off my phone, two are of the monument at Howarth from last weekends ride and have come out poorly, the other is of Methley church, I was there doing an estimate and while I had the camera thingy out on my phone I thought I would take a shot of my bike didn't turn out too shabby for my limited skills that one.

Worryingly fast considering the informal Mottram-Sheffield-Mottram ride is coming up.
I don't always ride that fast. The Sheffield ride will be a test of endurance for me rather than trying to get any PB's:thumbsup: .

Out for a 23 mile leg stretcher, brilliant moment when a horse in the field next to the road decided to run along at the same pace as me. Moments like that are why I cycle.
Don't mind things that stay in the fields. Far too many deer on the roads around here and quite a few lambs as well. Yesterday morning a deer crossed just yards in front of my bike but must have turned back. Could hear a car coming up behind me then a loud bang. Turned round to check the guy was ok which he was. Front skirt of the car and his fog light were smashed though. As much as I am an animal lover and hate the thought of it, I think they should really be looking at doing quite a big cull before they cause more accidents.

Lucky you, i would hate to hit a deer at any speed on a bike

Tried a ride on an upright but aborted after about 3 miles, it was painful even at warm up pace. Got out the low racer for another 90 min base miles ride... still painful when pushing on a bit but I can at least cruise at a reasonable power pain-free. All riding is damage limitation trying to maintain as much condition as possible so I've got less ground to make up.

Just a short 14 miler today as a shakedown since servicing the MTB a few weeks back, in readiness for a 4 day trip next weekend. 1¼ hours all told including a couple of tweakage stops along the way.

Bike's working brilliantly, apart from a creaking saddle which will be sorted out in a few mins

Set out at 0730 this morning to get a 41 miler in. I explored an area I have never cycled before (lanes south of the A414 between Harlow and Chelmsford). I thoroughly enjoyed seeing somewhere new. I stopped for 10 minutes at Writtle then came home via my usual route. It was very strange this morning. The 20 miles home I flew , well, flew for me! I just got faster and faster and was riding along at 17/18 mph and just powering up the hills with little effort. I cannot see why this occured. The only difference in my riding is that I have been raising my saddle a few mm's every 100 miles. It is about 40 mm higher then when I started. It is giving me a better position on the bike and I am beginning to feel the difference in my legs. I don't think that would account for this morning though. I guess it will just be one of those odd days we get and enjoy. I do think I may have an answer. Being a bit old fashioned I usually wear white socks with shorts, but today I wore black socks. I think that's what did it. It works for Wiggy, maybe it's working for me.................

First proper summer ride today :sun: i even got my legs out for the ladies :becool: met up with @Mr Haematocrit had a fabulous full English next to the Thames in Windsor and then a gentle pootle round past the castle and out through Windsor Great Park aka "Headwind Hell". Some fabulous looking bikes out today and riders . Since packing in the fags 19 days ago :addict: im noticing more and more improvement in my fitness and getting that average speed up a tad more each journey. All i need now is my jaw wired shut to stop me stuffing my face every time i fancy a smoke. Hope you have all had equally good weather and that it hangs around for a while !

Another Nice 29m ish ride. Same again weather was great. Although towards the end of the ride go some odd road raging Howdon trash shouting get out the way at me on a roundabout then screaming. LOL. Passengers were just as funny but we shouldn't laugh at fat people. They got the finger. Then the little benefit baby's in the back returned the gesture. haha.

Why is it that dog walkers are such c*nts? Today I was on the shared path approaching a group of kids, one of which had a ball. I called out and they all saw me and moved over.
However, immediately after doing so, I was met with a man running with a football (kicking it) with a dog next to him. I slammed on the brakes, swerved and locked up the back wheel to avoid him and his dog. I then turned around to see him just carry on running with the dog, swerving around everything.
He then stopped running when he got to the ground of kids who I can only presume were with him. The kids had actually seen me nearly miss the man because I was aware of them watching me after I had passed (probably waiting for the guy).

The day was made a bit more pleasant with me helping a guy who's chain had come off and then continuing to Rhos where there were a lot of people out sunbathing/having a fun time.

Today has been glorious and easily the warmest of the year so far. Saw loads of bikes on the shared path and quite a few foreign people (it isnt even a holiday!). I then was able to chase some motorcyclists who were filtering through traffic at 25mph and then passed them when they slowed down. Today has been epic and to top it off, we are having a barbeque for tea.
