The first really nice day we've had in a while here.

I had planned to meet up with @tug benson and @Col5632 in Kilsyth but they were slower than expected, so we met at the top of the tak-ma-doon instead, after I had taken a break to admire the view test the panorama function on my phone (I am not impressed).

On the way down to Stirling, one of my cheapo plastic bottle cages snapped in half (!), but the situation was soon remedied at a local bike shop. We continued to Edinburgh, dropping off Col in Dunfermline on the way, and successfully checked out the route to the Meadows for the Pedal on Parliament feeder next Month.

Great weather for the ride today.....I ate like a pig, then attacked arthurs seat twice..it nearly killed me

managed to dodge all the showers on the way home from mums. the new computer is now up & running. all I have left to do is teach them how to use it, Windows XP to Windows 8 and a 64 year old who hates computers, and a 71 year old who likes to 'tinker' - well that is now Tuesday's job (hopefully). Journey home was interesting and hard from the word go. It was a touch too cool for 3/4 length leggings when the sun was not out and that headwind is hard & cold and it was a headwind all the way home for 21 miles. Had a slight diversion to look at a new road, (my autopilot on the bike periodically gets bored with the same potholes and likes to go off and find different ones  ), and also found my first (planted) tulips in flower in a sheltered spot in someone's garden. http://app.strava.com/activities/50980005

I've got a garden full of tulips in flower, I've also got Hyacinths and Grape Hyacinths in flower, two weeks ago the garden was dormant and now its starting to look lovely.

I have seem plenty og Hyacinths & grape hyacinth's in flower but these were the first tulips for me. (We don't have a garden in the house we are in, so I only really see thm in other people's gardens as I cycle passed. (Missing my rhubarb right now - used to have a huge patch of it... :lick lips: )

I rode the Withington, Duckinfield and Stretford inter club 10 today with Zaksdad and Grimpeur which was shortened by about half a mile due to roadworks down at Goostrey. I don't do TT's normally so a first for me and was happy with a 24.00 . Grimpeur posted the fastest time of the day with a 21.55:bravo: and Zaksdad did a very respectable 26.06. I think we were all happy with the times on what was a pretty windy day, but no rain. I beat both of the Ducks who I have a friendly rivalry with which was good. Worrying thing is you start thinking mmm how much faster could I go with a TT bike and all the kit? Not sure how the missus would react to another bike.

51 mile pootle around Leicestershire this morning. Cold and breezy but managed to tackle and beat the hill at Gumley which beat me when I first tried it last November, after that I just kept going, made a nice change just taking random roads instead of a set route

I was under way just after 8.00am as light rain was forecast, but didn’t transpire. Decided a trip over to North Wales would make a nice trip even though the prevailing wind was a westerly. They were due to increase throughout the day but at least they would be on my back on the way home.
95 km covered with 1105m of climbing, I even managed a maximum speed of 74.2 km/h. Time for a bath.

Back from the Polocini Mini Expresso. I went for the longer route of 54 miles.

Turned up at 8:30 signed in, and promptly collected my porridge and coffee. All scoffed, and on the road just before 9am. Riders started when they were ready, so no really big groups. Found myself motoring on well, so caught and passed a number of groups. 1st big climb of the Brickworks was dispatched, then came Windgather. That was tough with the ferocious cross winds. Then dropped into Goyt Valley, with the long drag out to the Cat. Quick refill of water at the feed and a banana and I was off. Over to Axe Edge. OMG that was hard work. The wind was crazy strong, and I really struggled to hold it in a straight line. So glad to be off the main road at Flash.

Another few tough miles into a headwind, before turning at Allgreave for the climb back up to the Cat. Quick stop again at the feed then battled over the Cat and then down the dicey descent to Lamaload.

Next onto Dead Mans hill, and it claimed a rider. He got off and walked. Bit more climbing before I reached the Brickworks before retracing back to the coffee shop.

Al the organiser had put a cheeky little steep climb into the last mile at Chadkirk Chapel. Al had also positioned himself on the hill taking photos. I very nearly provided a comedy photo as my front wheel shot out sideways on the steep section, fortunately managed to catch it, but I was all over the road.

Back to the coffee shop for fantastic soup and another coffee. A mate of mine was providing free massages and posture checks for everyone who arrived back.

Good day out. Met a few riders that had taken the short route after turning round on Axe Edge. One lad had deep section wheels and was blown into the opposite carriageway.

Roll on the next one.
