Nice early morning 30 miler with a couple of friends, first time we've been out together so was good to finally get a ride organised when we could all make it.
Coffee and a millionaire shortcake at Costa before heading for home, quite busy on the roads though, lots of people obviously like to be driving about on a Bank Holiday.

Today was a short day (changing holiday homes so we can stay an extra 2 days), so we repeated the ride we did on a very windy day earlier in the week. Some what embarrassingly the ride we did earlier in the week was faster (according to strava) on the mountain bikes than on the road bikes today - I can only claim that the tailwind up the ascent on Monday was much stronger than the tailwind we had today. But on the bright side of things we have had sunshine (and blue sky) this morning and we almost made complete 36 miles without a snow shower today! Nearly but not quite. 36 miles, 2hrs 35 mins and a nice ride. (Actually had to stop and take the leg warmers off and tie them to my pannier rack - I was too warm)

A pootle in the sun this morning, which made a refreshing change from the last three days of hills, hills and more hills. And I met a gorgeous terrier puppy. His owner kept a firm grip on the lead. Probably a wise move.

What are hills?

Just 22 miles today, first half with a head wind, which meant I had a tail wind all the way back:smile: Felt really good, but had to cut it short to meet a friend. Nice to have some sun for once.

What are hills?
A long, slow, painful slog ... and the faithful shall be rewarded with a smooth, straight, traffic-free descent on fresh tarmac.

Went out for the first time in ages this afternoon. (Blame it on the atrocious weather conditions and a weekend away!) Today's ride was just a 10 mile pootle, enough to get my legs used to the bike again. I wrapped up well, and with my overshoes, silk glove liners, gloves, buff and skull cap I was nice and toasty:heat:. Even though the sun was shining, it was still very cold out there:cold:. Shortly after I set off I spotted a male fox just ambling along the road in front of me. He kept looking back as I followed slowly, until he disappeared into the woods. A buzzard was nearby, just watching from a branch, and a little later on I startled some deer who were grazing. The carpets of snowdrops were a joy to see. It was good to be out.^_^

Nice little 30 miles out towards Wintersett for a change, two days of shorts weather(ish) for me anyways, not much wind and I think it's called sunshine if my memory serves me well. A few cyclists out and about who all seemed overdressed to me longs and what ever balaclava's are called nowadays. I am thinking I am in a minority I have only seen two others without helmets in the six weeks I have been back on it. plenty of snowdrifts all over still. Passed three club cyclists on the way back which made me feel good (big kid that I am) I don't see many going the same way as me for comparison so I have no idea if my efforts are up to much. I am going to have to find someone to cycle with soon as I am thinking far too much about getting a new bike (shh don't tell any one) and went down my LBS before getting home to have another look at that Bianchi that needs a new home. also noticed my Brooks pro is beginning to split at the noseand my bottom bracket is getting a bit ropey. Just going out to buy an extra wintersett 001.JPG lottery ticket now.

Just under 30 miles in the sun for me. Planned a rather complex route and the SatMap made it easy. Lots of other cyclists out but only one overtook me. I was going to respond until I heard the racket his hub was making and decided I liked the peace and quiet better. Cycled up Woodbrook Road in Alderley Edge. I think that it's harder in some ways than Swiss Hill. Rest day for me tomorrow
