I did my normal 33 miler tonight it was a bit miserable weather wise at first but the winds were light I was keen to give the Sirrus now dropped bar a serious work out. I'm really pleased with it, its seriously fast, well for me anyway and the pitch black probably made it seem faster. Oh and I discovered that my bar taping skills aren't skillful and I'll need to retape the bars.

Another 10 miles 'by the light of the silvery moon' (3 nights out of the last 4), must get a better 2nd front light though

Pretty damn perfect. One of those where everything is just right. 25 miles of country roads and through town without stopping, faultless gear changes, hills a pleasure, all lights on green, drivers courteous and birds singing in the trees. Like dreaming of sleeping with Scarlett Johanson, waking up and seeing her beside you.

Got home and the prospective Mrs Marsh was waiting with a large mug of hot steaming tea and a pork and bramley apple sausage sandwich.

(Actually the bit about the birds and the sausage sandwich I made up)

74 miles for me today. Nice route, with one killer climb. Got a bit lost and was cold and low on food, but made it home.
Need to get my endurance back. I've gone from doing lots of 80+ mile rides to mainly higher intensity 30/40/50 milers.

60km - started off with someone else riding laps of a local reservoir, then I went off on my own and rode some hills for a bit of practice before the BUCS hillclimb next Saturday - I repped one particular hill several times which must have made the locals think I was a bit crazy.

Today I dragged the missus out for a complain,,,er I mean ride to the pub. It got easier after a pint and she got back without falling off like she usually does:tongue:

Last night went out for some hardcore stuff on the hills on the Van Nic cross bike, got up the hills quicker than my mate on his mtb and actually stayed in front on the gnarly down hill stuff, though I think he was waiting for me to fly over the barsxx( which I didn't ........... I have got used to the lack of sus on the front and am honing the avoiding the big rocks skill that 32 mm tyres require. FUN FUN FUN

My ride today started yesterday:smile: There was a following wind as I headed east to visit a friend. His wife was away down south for a day or two, so we told stories , recalled past times, drank copious quantities of whisky, told more stories and then today, I decided to head for home. The wind had died away, the stars were bright in the sky as I headed west. There was not another soul on the road, and when i arrived at home the tide was high, waves were lapping on the shore and I thought , life is not so bad .:smile:

52.6miles done is 3:02:24(i think, something like that)
Very hard, strong wind, on the fixed, spinning, sprinting for signs. Last sign we had a proper sprint for, the person that was going against me had his chain snap:eek: Full carbon bike, with Dura-Ace. Managed to fix it together(still slaimed that sign, even after one person was trying to steal my front wheel while we were sitting around ;)) Then when a few went off ahead, doing about 26mph(i was spinning at about 24mph) i saw one had stopped before Gunthorpe Bridge. I stopped and his rear mech had gone into the spokes and locked his back wheel up for abit. He held it and stopped. Bent his rear mech back and rode to his work(well, sat on his bike and someone pushed him there.
That Dura-ace mech wont be working again:eek: Someone said "fixed is looking like a good idea at times like this isnt it"
 And it wasnt me:biggrin:

What can i say?Just got back from my weekend away.Been to the far end of Langstrothdale about seven miles past Buckden.Stayed in a barn .Weather was a bit rubbish but the company has been great.Left early today super 50 miler and the rain kept the cars away for a big part of the ride. What a feeling from the barn to the main road was a mile and a half of open moor river to the right of me in flood and water coming off the moor and fields rain mist cows and sheep and mee.It was all things spooky awesome and magnificent all at the same time.Boy did i motor all the way back 50 in one min less than 4 hours. That for me is great. It has been one of my best cycling weekends.

I was practising mountain biking. Took the day off on Friday and went for a local ride around Melton, which was hilarious because of the mud. Yesterday I went to the peak district and rode 5 passes: roman road, lockerbrook, cut throat bridge, crook hill and the roman road again, but with a different approach. Both of the rides I did on my hardtail, which only has 100mm of front travel, to get my technique up to scratch again. The climbing was fantastic and the descending improved once I'd got the pressure right in my tyres and wasn't going down tracks like a ping pong ball. Only went over the bars once - on the hagg farm descent, but I am rather battered and bruised today ;)

First proper ride since August and I was going out this morning whatever the weather. Rode up to Lancaster University and then across to Scorton teacake and coffee at the Priory before fighting the wind as normal all the way to Blackpool. Chuffed to have got some proper miles in 56.57 since doing my ribs some damage at the end of August. Back in the land of the living wahay.
