A while back I cycled 40 miles on a bowl of porridge before hitting the wall, but took up the challenge to cycle 60 miles with a mate. A couple of food stops made all the difference and I still had plenty of energy come the end of the ride. Also the area was drenched in rain, yet all of it missed us.

Had a bit of a nightmare today. Banbury was the destination, 76 miles was the journey. Had a very enjoyable ride down through the lanes to Banbury, had an hour in Café Mocha in Banbury, the ride back was good as well, well it was until I was turning right in Princethorpe, I was that busy watching traffic that I failed to notice some debris on the road, instant rear tyre deflation, I pulled over changed the innertube and got going again but something wasn't right so I pulled over again, that was when I spotted the gash in the tyre with the innertube bulging out, managed to patch up the tyre with an old section of tyre I carry in my saddle bag then rode slowly home. Tyre and tube are scrap and I've had to spend £17 on a new tyre this afternoon.

After yesterday's 67 miles around Cheshire with a couple of other cc'ers today was a much more leisurely 18 miles on the TPT.
Even found time for an ice cream in the :sun:

Nice 50 odd miler into the Peak. Missed club ride as dog poorly overnight and I needed sleep! Couple of Strava pb's on climbs I tried on as well. Been a hard training week and wasn't expecting much but nice to be out on the roads instead of the turbo.

Did get caught up in a load of off road motorbikes trundling between Hope and Hathersage, doing around 15 mph holding up loads of traffic as they were 2 abreast, don't know if it was a protest or something, but I went past them in the cycle lane, lovely and peaceful then. Hopefully new training regime will show results for the 25 TT I have entered in 3 weeks, then my first go at some hill climbs where I expect nothing!

I went out with Coalville Wheelers "B" group. They did 43 miles but I felt I may have been holding them back as I struggled up some of the inclines (not really hills) and had to be waited for. After all I was riding my 30 year old steel steed. My bike is twice the weight of most of the bikes the rest had. I think everyone else was on Carbon.
I've done rides at faster average speed and don't usually have a cake break (bacon butty for me). I'll just have to wait to see if they contact me to see if I'm interested in going out again or if I'm too much of a dead weight.

Many years ago I had the bead part company with the rest of the tyre, the tyre went off like a shogun, in the middle of nowhere on a quiet country lane, one of the lads I was with was carrying a short piece of old tyre and we got it fixed enabling me to finish the ride, since then I've always carried a piece of old tyre with me.
I've now checked the bike and the only casualties are the tyre and tube.

I know the snap is rubbish, but its a classic snake bite puncture.

Nice gash on the sidewall, it goes right through, when I stopped the second time to see why the bike didn't feel right the fresh tube was bulging through.

A nice little 20 miler up and down the Lavant Valley, took the cross for a short trail ride, bumpy as you know what, maybe I need to let a bit of ir out of the tyres next time?

Went to the Milton Keynes Skyride, seemed decent enough, the guys playing steel drums all day seemed to be singing random words which was amusing. They'd changed the course a bit from last year, removed the 180 degree turn on cobblestones so seems its improving. I dont really want to be negative about it, but the route really is boring, doing laps of a U shaped route on identical simcity roads so only did a couple of laps, when theres so much parkland nearby that could be used. The free bibs are great this year though with the Team GB union jack logo on them
