I took the metis out today, my old lady bike, for a run to the shops.
Less than half a mile in, just after lugging it up over the railway bridge, I met a dog walker who cheerfully told me "you look knackered love" Cheers for that!
It felt kind of heavy, but I've been riding the specialized much more lately so I put it down to that, then I realised I had it in its 6th gear -it only has 7! No wonder I was struggling up the hill.

First ride into work on my Cycle2Work scheme bike today. Was pretty uneventful 2 miles, the only thing of note was forgetting to clip out my right foot when getting off and falling onto the grass outside the office.

I did the same route today as the one I did on Saturday but what a difference.

Where on Saturday I felt good, today I just felt carp, legs were heavy and although I never stopped I had to grit it out not to.

This seems weird, although there was hardly any wind it seemed like I was battling still air.

Some days we are stronger than others, no idea why, but I have the same experience as you on familiar routes. Some days I whizz along and on others the journey seems to drag.

He, and some of his colleaugues were having a series of rather robust discussions over property

Small boy and old boy(me) both rather enjoyed it.
That looks like the 'Vike' or The Vikings if you prefer. Both the OH and me used to be members of them, keeps you fit, running about in ringmaille with an axe in one hand and a shield in the other.

Today we had a nice shortish ride. 11.42 miles, to Wymondham and back to pop in a repeat prescription at the docs. Lovely ride, quietly undulating, as Norfolk tends to be, without any 'proper' hills in sight. Packrat (the OH) thought that not hilly was a good thing today.

I have a new seat, hence a shorter ride, not sure about it at all at the moment.

No riding today. Played 5 a side football last night after a break of 2.5 years.
Plus points - out ran a few mates and scored a couple of times. All commentated on my weight loss/stamina due to cycling.
Minus point - MY LEGS ARE KILLING ME!

51 mile mtb mainly off road training loop, mainly flat one KOM on Strava and a 45 second improvement on a club off road climb challenge and only a minute and a bit behind a racer on a CX bike.:bicycle:

19 miles out from home and 2 spokes snapped like rifle shots! Wheel so badly out of true it rubbed in 3 places. Luckily I had my new multi-tool with a spoke spanner [wedding anniversary present... Mrs A_T got opal ear-rings!]... got me home, just.

Does anyone carry spare spokes with them, and if so, where do you put them?

49 miles this afternoon. Not sure if it was a lack of energy, fitness or motivation but I really struggled on the way home and was Very Pleased Indeed to get home and collapse into the bath.

Tootling along the cycle path by the river here in Ipswich some kid about 20 metres ahead wandered into my path. "someone needs to be taught a lesson" said the dad, I was about to to affect my usual defence of cycling away when I realised the dad was speaking to his boy, he then turned and apologised to me!

Then just before I reached home someone let me into a junction then called me a twat at high volume.

So ying and yang etc I guess.

It was quite a nice day so I blasted home and got changed out of the work clothes and went for a wee ride exploring the villages again round to the western side of Peterborough. Got scalped a few times but I didn't feel the urge to scalp them back, the first was doing a TT (number on his back) and the latter two were on nice carbon road bikes (I was on the 13kg+ SS).
