Pleasant forty yesterday taking in Clumber park, which is free if your on a bike! Must be getting used to this cycling lark as me legs are only just aching....six weeks ago I'd be crawling around today!

Too hot to work - pointing a wall - this afternoon (shade temp 33c) so went out at 2. Melting tarmac an occasional problem but otherwise very pleasant. Got back at 5 and had an ice cream.

Not quite what I'd planned to do but very nice none the less - Strava route

First a few miles to Bury to meet the family and do some errands, then thru Burrs country park heading for Ramsbottom and the hills beyond. Not sure if I could get there by this route and did end up on some...ahem...footpaths and had to push, carry and lift the bike at times. Got to Somerseat then rejoined the road. A call from the wife had me heading back from Holcombe Brook instead of venturing further north. Came back from Bury to Radcliffe on NR6 but rejoined the road thru Whitefield as the off road option was getting increasingly muddy.

A sunny day and a very nice 24 or so miles. Hot and hard work at times though despite an average speed of only 10.5 mph. Glad I was on the tourer as it was no route for a road bike!

Fast and careful!
done over 100 miles the last two days,on the borders of hampshire and wiltshire the roads are melting and dealing with the dust from the harvesting in the fields, have had a knocking creaking on the pedalling motion of the bike so into the bike shop, water in the rear ratchet on rear wheel ,wet then dry don't always work, always hinders the cyclist,at least the lying flint and gravel is moving to the edges, but the weathers great at the moment i love the heat, top service as always from stonehenge cycles Salisbury

Oaf on a Bike
I went out to cycle round two local lakes, 6 miles there and back then 4 miles there and back for an easy 10 miler before dinner after deciding it was too hot to run today. Because i wanted to try a strava segment i missed 1st try by 1 second and because it was a local ride, i left my bags, tools at home, its not like ive had a puncture since i put M+ tyres on 2000 miles ago.... oh dear.

Not only did my tyre hiss on one of the very rare occurances I didnt take repair kit, but it also chose to do it at the furthest place from home, so I ended up getting a 2.5 mile jog home in the heat with my bike much to the bemusement of the many people out enjoying the sun and wondering (out loud) why I was taking my bike for a run.

62 miles to the coast and back with GordonB, with Mrs GordonB providing a picnic for us on Aldeburgh beach. Great day out, albeit a bit hot on the return trip inland.

Ride back slightly marred by a complete idiot motorist who was very briefly benignly following us as we approached our right hand turn on the main road from Aldeburgh to the A12. As we forked right, he carried on down the main road, then started shouting at us at the top of his voice across the fields from his car window in a rant against all things cycling. As the gap widened between us, the noise of his incoherent rage faded away - a bit like a scene in the Great St Trinians Train Robbery as the engine disappears down a junction alongside the main train.

Perhaps James Martin is holidaying in Aldeburgh.

About 23 miles down the country lanes in the heat this morning. Sports-tracker lost the connection on my phone twice, so I don't have any meaningful stats. It was a lovely ride. I think I cracked 20miles in two hours, but can't be sure. Time to buy a watch

Not everyday you get to pass Fabian Cancellara :becool:

He was going in the opposite direction, with the rest of his Swiss team but that's just details. Tempting to throw a u-turn and try to catch back up to the group! Spartacus was looking cool as a cucumber in big shades and was front right of the pack. This was in an almost deserted Richmond Park (I was on my second lap). They were presumably following tomorrow's road race route.

Thirty two miles from wherever I was yesterday to Krems. Smaller mileage because of drying our tents and clothes after a major thunderstorm. Thoroughly dry outside now aiming to wet the insides. It's six thirty and thirty two degrees. I hear beer calling my name.....
