Cracking ride today in the Yorkshire Dales, 75 miles from Richmond via Reeth, Tan Hill, Kirkby Stephen and return by Nateby, Askrigg and Redmire.
Hard going on the outward leg with a full on headwind over the tops and great blast back.

My ride today consisted of 7 miles out, pedal stripping thread on l/h crank, and 7miles back walking/one legged riding.
Not the best ride ever.

I did an easy 30 mile circuit to the west of MK, through Winslow, Swanbourne etc. At the farthest point it went from warm and kind of sunny to torrential rain, so got totally soaked through, even my socks were squelching in my shoes. Silly thing is i think my plan to cycle home with a tailwind actually meant that i spent the whole journey riding with a small but intense rain cloud. Then back in MK I discovered an underpass (ive cycled through plenty of times before!) with what looks like 2 textures of tarmac separated by a decievingly large rut between that had me off as i tried to cross it too gently. No damage to the bike, just a small bump on the knee for me as id managed to brake most of the speed off before i went over and really enjoyed the ride

A 48 km ride this morning to make the most of the sunshine, since it's been in short supply.

Took advantage of not being in work until tonight by having a little ride out along the TPT, nice little circular route of 16 miles.
Still a bit wet and muddy in places, finally found the correct turnoff to complete the loop, last time I missed a vital left turn and ended up coming back the safe way.

Sneaked out for a ride to test the repaired wheel on the knockabout bike. I decided to press on a bit and have set a new personal best average speed on that bike of 14.98mph over 17 miles.:wahhey:

Less than a month ago I'd have been very happy setting that speed on the Raleigh, let alone my £100 special.

On top of that the repair was okay and the wheel has stayed true which gives me a bit of a respite before I have to spend money on a new one.

Bit of a family affair yesterday with my riding my first race in cycle speedway and my two eldest girls taking part in the Go-Ride grand prix at Astley & Tyldesley cycle speedway track.I managed a single point for the team which for a fisrt outing i am happy with, but my girls who are now experts this was their second race and they came 1st and 2nd with their friend taking 3rd.
Weather was good and all had a good day.

A sub 30 mile mix of allsorts today..
7.5 mile commute this morning in very light rain, just spitting. First time the Ribbles got wet. Lovely countryside commute, hardly a car to be seen, reed or sedge warblers abound along the various big dykes i ride along.
Extended commute to 13 miles this afternoon, slightly different route alongside another dyke, yellow lillies all along its length, red, yellow, purple, white and pink flowers festooned the banks and roadside verges, like something out of an oil painting. Found an adjustable spanner ...rusty as hell ...i'll work on it tomorrow..
Then out for a quick blast this evening...another 7.5 miles round town.

16.2 mph average overall today..a good day all round.

A fairly routine 25-or-so mile ride up around the Olympic Exclusion Zone and on to roads I didn't know around Hackney Down. Got home, updated the map and found that I've eventually reached the 100 square mile point. Only another 500 or so to have ridden every cyclable road in London!

Decided to get rid of the stresses from a day of being sat in front of Microsoft Excel, producing contract monitoring reports, by heading out for a 12 mile ride after work. Headed out from Shrewsbury, to Upton Magna, up towards Haughmond Hill and down Withington Bank and back home. Managed to hit my highest speed yet on my new Cube Hybrid (30.1 mph) and would have hit a bit more I reckon, only for a car to come the other way on the narrowest part of the trip, as I was flying downhill (how dare they be on the road ) cue slight wobble, brake hard and swerve :surrender:.

The only annoyance was the high pollen count which meant I suffered with Hayfever for the whole trip. Time to get some antihistamine's me thinks.

100 miler in the sunshine round the badlands of East Yorkshire. The first one for a year since the GP said to me "should you still be doing these in your 60s, month in month out? Oh, and your collarbone's broken in two places".

So it was nice to get round at >14mph, which for me is brisk. But I don't think I'll go back to doing one every month.

Not had a ride today as I'm waiting nervously for some phone calls. Last night I did my maiden 10 mile TT and it was the first time I used clip ons too (I used the training bike as it has regular shaped bars which I could attach them too. I'm pretty sure I could improve on my 26.15 ride (attacking corners, using the clip ons more etc) but not to the extent of the winner 21.13
