Did my 1st ever 60 miler today  A constant evil headwind for the first 25 miles started the doubts going but a rest stop in Tatton Park by the mere helped. Spotted a chap in a Manchester Wheelers cap about 2 hours into it and had a brief chat about my intro ride with them last week. Nice chap

Very satisfying! http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/pMSH90IQR2c - the headwind never did leave me alone though :cursing:

EDIT: Took a pic on my phone at Tatton Mere to show the Mrs. Stupid in hindsight, she was stuck inside working :s

Tried out a new route this afternoon - up the main road to Wiliton then down to Wiveliscombe and back to Taunton. It was only 33 miles but every single one of them was a joy to ride. Even the hills. Will definitely be going out that way again.

Today on a 44 mile ride out to Brands Hatch and back I extended my route-following incompetence by adding ''getting lost downhill'' to my previous classic of ''getting lost uphill.'' I think I should move to the Fens and complete my portfolio!

It turned out to be a lovely day but I had difficulty keeping warm whilst cycling. It's very odd weather: it felt warm when not moving but cold while moving. It's usually the other way round.
Thats the wierdest thing, beautiful day here, but as soon as i got back, thats what i told the wife...lovely and warm yet my toes felt cold.

The awful statistics are dawning on me, but todays ride had a nice bit...in the last 6 months, i'll bet i havnt ridden 150 miles in total....awful. Started part commuting to work, but todays 18 miles is the longest ride this year ( i think)...but 18 miles at 16mph average. Considering the poor condition i'm in (crikey, i sound like i've got mange  )...i'm very happy with that.

Looked at the photo when i got back...oh heck, i forgot to take off the frame pump, not very eye candy is it..

I love that stretch of road. Just past Sibson airfield, if you're lucky, the parachute club planes take off right over your head. The smell of kerosene, the hot blast from the exhausts, the wash from the propellers, the runway stops feet from the road, i love it.
So, a good average speed considering, lovely day, not cream crackered at all when i got back, the old mojo and fitness is coming back.

Managed to find a bit of time this afternoon so did a quick 34 mile trip from Dewsbury to Holmfirth, with a stop at Sid's Cafe (Last of the Summer Wine). Fastest time yet but stuck to the roads only rather than the Calder Valley Greenway.

Another very short and sweet 5 miles in an unexpectedly child-free half-hour. The dairy cattle are calving and it's such a treat to see the new ones, all wet-coated and wobbly.

A nice 15.5 mile run. A route I've done quite a few times but fastest time yet. I couldn't get out till the afternoon. I'll try to get out a little earlier tomorrow if I feel al right (had a bit of a head cold at the weekend but feeling well enough today) and go a little further. I'm trying to up my distance so I'll be fit enough to have a go a joining the local club for their Sunday run.

I went for a wee spin with my brother tonight, it was pitch dark at the end but the roads were dry, sounds likes thats going to end in the early hours of the night! but it was a shame to waist the last of the OK weather. It was 20deg here last week (warm for us ;)) and sunny, its forecast to drop below zero and snow :cold:

Left work just after 10 pm, decided to cycle on the road all the way  even on the dual carriage way bit.

My planned ride today has been cancelled due to snow, but I hope to at least get a short ride along the road on my MTB later - not sure that my dog looks to keen to be running alongside me

Did a 39 mile spin yesterday - up Blagdon Hill, pootled around the Blackdowns and Devon for a wee while, then came back down Corfe Hill. Was happily surprised by how much easier it was to climb Blagdon yesterday than the last time I went that way in the autumn. :wahhey:

*waves to Giant Man (as in his breed of bike, not his stature) and Man With A Big Smile who was going up Corfe as I came down*

Its been quite a considerable change in the weather here, last week it was 22degC tonight its forecast -2degC and its been blustery snow showers all morning. The snows now stopped but there are still 50mph winds out there and I can't believe I'm actually contemplating going for a ride this evening!
