Been for a nice 20 mile ride.put the m 530 pedals on so I could use my mo81 boots. Windy day and about 10 miles to get legs pumping properly. Few pics of Alwalton castor river nene and nene valley railway. Plus the butty and tea I've just enjoyed...

Work this morning meant that I missed the cold but still part of the day so I had to make do with the breezy part & go out this afternoon in what is my least favourite wind, a brisk south-westerly.

At a reasonably lightweight 10 stone 10 pounds, crosswinds & open forest roads make for some interesting riding at times with the odd gust of wind so I chose a route which sort of gave me cross/tail wind on the way up across the New Forest to Redlynch before turning back on slightly more sheltered roads into the cross/head wind.

Not an awful lot else to be said about a grey miserable January day but I'm glad I managed to get 30 miles in when I did as it has just started to rain now!!

An afternoon pedal for me today due to work commitments. I hate afternoon rides, I struggle to get the eating balance right so invariably go out over fed. Crap ride in really windy conditions, felt sick for the first 6 miles, and when it started raining I was within 2 miles of home so decided on the bugger it approach, went home and had soup.
14 miles today, hoping for a morning ride at the weekend with less wind...

Got the road bike out today for the first time since September 12th. Felt weird and fast, no plan on where I was going, except to the bank first, that done I just road outwards from Didcot after 17 odd miles ended up in Stoke Row, where I saw the Maharajahs Well, The Well Keeper's cottage, a nice flint built church and a nice bit of lunch in the Cherry Tree inn, where with the help of my phone I planned my route home. Just as well as it started to drizzle and the wind kicked up a bit. Just as I was leaving Stoke Row I passed a very small pig pen in the woods, with loads of ickle ickle piglets running about, very sweet, ironic too as I had just eaten a pork and apple chutney open sandwich in the pub.

It was nice being on the road bike again, though my back was giving me a bit of gip on the bumpy bits of road, but I managed to avoid any pain. A horrid grey, damp windy wet day, but a very nice 32 and a bit mile ride with some lumps in it..

Cold, drizzle and strong blustery wind today. What kind of idiot would go out in that? This kind of idiot, that's who. My staple ride out to the bottom end of Frampton on severn and back wasn't going to be quite long enough for my purposes today, so I tagged on a couple of extra 2 mile loops out to Saul Marina and back to Frampton before heading back home. Didn't really enjoy it at all today, but it was always going to be about keeping the miles trickling in towards my 2015 target and getting me ahead of target in case of any snow to come.

Horrible strong gusts of wind from changeable directions made life interesting on winding lanes, particularly where side winds suddenly hit you from breaks in the hedges. I kept to a steady 14 or 15 mph in a middling gear and just concentrated on staying on the bike. Job done. 24.1 miles in all, putting me over the 100 for the month so far. By my reckoning, and weather permitting, next weekend's club ride, followed by my first audax of the year the following week should then ensure 200 miles for January. I'll have to stay off the bike for a few days after that as I have another audax on the 1st Feb to get through if I'm going to keep the Century a Month Challenge going. These are the tough months. Can't wait to get through them and see in the Spring. Good luck with the weather, everybody.
Cheers, Donger.

Only a short ride today (they've all be pretty short so far this year anyway) but just rode into the city and parked up at the bike park cage thing at St Andrews car park. Then we wandered into the city and bought a new calendar (40% off. I got an Asterix one for the office and a Simon's Cat one for the kitchen) then back to the bikes and rode home. Both ways involved the Marriotts Way.

On the way back, we nearly had an off when an oncoming bike with no lights and the rider dressed all in black suddenly came in to view. Thank heavens for the grass bit at Anderson's Meadow or we'd have hit him. He was right in the middle of the cyclepath too. He'd have seen us as we have lights on our bike, switched on lights at that. We decided to go up Marlpit Lane tonight. Bit of a mistake at that time of night. I had to stop and get on the path and ride up (following other cyclists, still not legal but I felt better about it) as the traffic was nearly all the way to the bottom.

6.02 miles tonight, averaging 10.05mph so riding for 34 and a half minutes.
Both bikes into the LBS for a service tomorrow afternoon. Service is Friday but dialysis for Hubster means that we can't get the bikes in first thing. We can do the gear indexing bit but not feeling confident on disc brakes yet. I have a big book but thought that we'd make sure that they were properly tickety-boo before any further servicing on them as the year goes on.

We are both really enjoying the night riding at the moment.

Went for the last ride of my 42nd year today (I turn 42 tomorrow). Jumped onto my bike and cycled down to the Bristol-Bath Railway path for a cup of hot chocolate (with marshmallows on the side) and a piece of victoria sponge. A friendly guest shared the cake with me, but sadly the tardis was out of order.

Managed to break the hammer on my bell on the way home I think due to frustration with the number of pedestrians on the cycle path.

Bumped into a friend from the cycle club on the way home as I popped into the shops for some sundries.

Wind, rain and dark on first ride for a while on East Lancs cycle path, 22 miles.
All new lights and tights fully tested and passed with flying colours!
I arrived home warm and dry.
I wore one sealskinz glove and one Aldi winter glove for comparison. Both waterproof and warm but the hand in the Aldi glove was slightly warmer and warmed up first!
Warm and dry feet helped by 3 pairs of socks including Aldi waterproof socks and Aldi overshoes.

Just 20km in the cold wind today

Dam near freezing in the wind chill today...so opted for a short loop to a full english breakfast in the cafe....some things never change lol!

I enjoyed my bit if cycling when I was on Cyprus back in May/June. I hired a bike from Omar at Ramo Pro Cycling. Nice guy and a strong cyclist. Went a ride with him one morning from Nissi Beach to Larnaca and back
