I've been getting withdrawal symptoms having not been out on the bike for several days now due to w*rk and family stuff going on.
Today, even though I'm on shift this afternoon, I got the chance of a 10 mile circuit running some errands and adding a few miles on the end 'because I could'

First stop was to take my granddaughters watch back to her house as she left it here after a weekend visit, next was to pick up 6 hex bolts to fit a new rotor to the full su when my new brakes turn up, hopefully tomorrow. Final stop was Tesco's to swap the slippers I got for my birthday for a size 6 instead of the size 9 I received. Well, the numbers look the same upside down I s'pose...

As I was leaving to bike outside Tesco used my trusty old SS Purple Peril for the trip. About 20 yrs old and still going strong... (First bike I rode the London - Brighton on as well :becool:)

On the way back, I pocketed a few chestnuts to roast. I didn't really have time for many more miles, so I headed home on just over 10 miles.

Off to w*rk soon.. Boooooo

Went out today with the promise of sunshine all day. Managed to catch the clear skies by The Orwell, but it soon clouded over shortly after this. Still, I got in just over an hour's worth of cycling.

The forecast is for early sunshine tomorrow, with rain to follow in the afternoon. I'll have to try and get up early and get out and back before the bad weather hits us.
Well, the forecast was right. The sun was shining earlier on and I was up, but I didn't sleep well last night so I didn't feel like riding until 12:30 by which time the sunshine had gone east to check out York again!

Still, rain was not forecast for 3 hours so I set out to do a 23 mile hilly loop.

I got to where I normally do the steep climb of, er, Steep Lane (how did they think up that name!) and a few heavy raindrops hit my glasses. The sky was black ahead, so I thought better of it and headed back the quick way via Scout Road. When I got back into Hebden Bridge all the roads were wet, so once again I had managed to time my ride perfectly to avoid the rain, which had arrived an hour early. It is grim, grey, windy and wet out now, but I am back home, warm and dry!

Similar to @ColinJ really. I had some outdoor stuff to get done and some indoor chores to get done today and the only question was the order of them... One look at the weather forecast last night chose the order for me but I made the mistake of setting off in my long sleeved jersey & longs... way too warm and within 5km the sleeves had been taken off and I was enjoying 18/19C sunshine.... off to the hospital for the blood tests - the vampires there nicked 5 vials of my blood), by now it had clouded over and then off to Waitrose to pick up a couple of bits (should have purchased the garlic before going to the hospital I think).... tried sulking going home - couldn't get my free soya late at Waitrose because my OH has my bleedin myWaitrose card... <barhumbug> and rode home in less sunshine with a visible wall of cloud on the horizon, but still as warm.

Got thanked by a police car on an emergency call for deliberately holding up the traffic after a white van man going in the same direction as they were (towards me) totally failed to respond to their sirens, to the point where they were going to end up meeting me along side him if someone didn't do something - they were effectively trapped on the wrong side of the road and I could see the driver was trying to text someone at the same time and not paying attention to the road, so it just seemed like the easiest thing to do... nice that they said thank you.

Got home to have a hypoglycaemic attack - annoying but I had one last night as well so not entirely unexpected... not having that latte in Waitrose was a mistake... so will have to be very careful over the next few days...

Today's photo - taken before the ride for a certain photo challenge...

If we did it in mid-summer and started quite early, we could take our time and still get back in daylight.
Colin, I've just checked and 21st June falls on a Sunday in 2015.

First ride since the 17th
Took the MTBs out for a quick spin down the road to the Marriotts Way and cycled the 2 miles from there into the City. Wandered about a bit while we changed our address with a couple of banks and then road back again. Of course riding back does involve riding up Marlpit Lane which is quite uppy. Much easier on our heavy old MTBs than going up on the roadies.
Nice ride, about 6 or 7 miles I guess in about 50 minutes ish. Not totally sure but it's there or thereabouts. To nice a day to be worrying about time and distance.

Edited: 6.51 according to MMR. So there you go.

Wonderful ride today, my first day off of the rest of the week and it was nice and sunny. Was torn between putting the bike on the Turbo (it was quite windy) or just going for a gentle ride. I'm heading up to Grizedale at the weekend so wanted to not knacker myself out before then... so a short route was planned taking in a local hill (for Essex!) for a bit of variation and off I set.

Got to the bottom of the hill (Swan Lane) and remembered it was closed for road works, still after a bit of consultation with the workers at the bottom, I set off up the hill and had to walk the odd section around where they were patching to road.... still it was supposed to be a gentle ride so that was fine with me...

Eventually came over the top in to the village of Stock and headed over main road to start the ride back home, I was enjoying the ride so much in the nice weather that I decided to take a detour and loaded in a old route that took me a little further South and another little climb...

Al that done and on the last 6 miles from home I see the blink of a red light on a bike in front, and gentle turns in to catch... took ages to finally catch the lady on the bike and I think I scared the whit's out of her when I said good afternoon! (sorry about that if you read this!)... off back home via Sandon and as I rolled up on the drive my 10 miler had turned in to a 20 miler and a couple of new PRs on Strava! So much for taking it easy!

Fast and careful!
Another 35 miles out of Brugge ,did a lap of the town then towards Damme a haven for tourists in the summer but not today the temperatures fell and the wind picked up and I mean we got wind burnt then headed towards sluis over the Dutch border
We had to use a hand barge to cross the canal you get on it and have to spin the handle to you reach the other side ,my son was in his element

And then onto the town of sluis ,I always say you know when you are in holland by the amount of sex shops ,sluis a average size town with 5 we saw

Then back to Brugge for over priced coffee, only down of the day was a cyclist we had past managed to get knocked off his bike by a lorry, still a great haven for cyclists just don't get over confident in the traffic

I looked at my diary last night and saw that I finished work at 1.30pm so planned to go for a ride sometime after 2.30 as I had to go into town first. When I got back, the sky was very dark and by the time I got ready, it started to rain. Being the fair weather cyclist that I am, I decided to leave till tomorrow. ( I finish work at 12.30 then but also need to go to B&Q to buy a new kitchen tap and get my 10% oap discount). Mind you, B&Q is open till 8pm so can go after my ride, if it doesn't rain.
