Found this rather stiff female rat lying on the back lawn this morning.

Stopped on my ride at the top of a big hill in the Peak District today. Heard a couple of skylarks heading over. This was at 1,100 ft up. ......

There's at least 3, and maybe 4, who are displaying over the field behind our house, and have been for a week or two. They seem to have divided it up neatly between them.

I see buzzards every day, and the occasional red kite (there is a pair in the woods behind the above-mentioned field). I watched 3 roe deer playing for half an hour yesterday, in the same field, and saw a fox whilst doing the evening dog-walk. Last week I spotted a stoat in the field, which was nice, but best of all, there was a tree creeper on a willow across the road yesterday. We don't see many of those.

I was a bit bored so I watched my bird feeder for a few minutes. I was interested to see what the hierarchy was amongst the birds. I reckon at my feeder it's something like this...most aggressive first

Great Tit
Robin
Greenfinch
Siskin
Bullfinch
Goldfinch
Chaffinch
Lesser Redpoll
Blue Tit
Coal Tit

The Great Tits are real bullies. Siskins are pretty tough for little fellas

Your Robins need to 'man-up'! We've got one that Lords it over all the smaller birds, Great Tits included. He'll even have a crack at Blackbirds, and only shows deference to the Magpies and Jays, but then so does my cat!

Great pic! Frog, rather than toad, I reckon, despite the slightly warty skin (its, not mine). Those distinct ridges from just over the eyes all along its back are very froggy; toads are more rounded across the back. Did you make it jump, or vice versa? ^_^

Further googling suggests frog, as you say. It was just sat there amongst leaves, about 50 yards from the river, and a good height above it. My dog nearly stepped on it, but the dozy mutt didn't actually notice it.
