SIip-slidin' down Big Pig...
I saw my first fully antlered fallow deer stag on last nights/evenings ride in the Vorest. I've seen dozens of deer (and boar) this autumn, but strangely this has been my only antlered stag. I also heard stags doing their rutting call/ Chewbacca impression in the distance too. Magic.

Redwing and Feildfare today. Bl**dy cold out so I expect they felt at home. First lot of the winter for me.
Also a pair of Red Kite, Buzzards and a Sparrowhawk, 3 Raven and a Kestrel amongst other stuff.
All from the saddle of my bike ^_^

Seems "amongst" isn't in the CC spellchecker
where are you, or at least where did you see the birds ?
Saw all those on a ride from Hay-on-Wye in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Hay-Abergavenny-Blaenavon-Talybont-Brecon-Talgarth-Hay. Not my usual patch.

Not much to report this week following our quick sprint from Ipswich to Long Melford, only to find cafe in garden centre closed for renovation. We did spot a sparrow hawk, a couple of partridges, a buzzard. We also had to avoid some peacocks wandering about near a farm.

Very foggy above 1000ft yesterday but I could hear the thin "seeeeep" of redwings. Presumably a bit disoriented in the fog. Also surprised to hear a Meadow Pipit and Pied Wagtail on the tops. Presumably the settled weather has persuaded them to hang around. Not much else; a few ravens and kestrels. Seems we're at the time of the year when wildlife evacuates the high land and it's pretty quiet until next March

I've been wondering where the clumps of feathers were coming from on the local bridleway. Well this morning I found out. Sitting above one, was a huge buzzard, just staring at me. Come to think of it, I've not seen so many wood pigeons recently. Now I know where he hangs out, I'll take my camera with me. He was so close I only needed a 100mm lens.

Spotted this fella scurrying across the path between Presthaven and Talacre looked like a dry roasted peanut with legs.

Last night was interesting, out on the bike to meet dr_pink on her commute home, I had gone about 5 miles on dark country lanes, the road nicely lit up with my front light which has a really wide spread when I caught some movement in my peripheral vision, a second later something hit my back wheel. I have no clue as to what it might have been, I am guessing something rat sized. Thinking that was something interesting to tell dr_pink when we met up, I started to speak when she said she scored a hat trick tonight, a fox, badger and deer. Sigh.
