I noted the other day...when a butterfly fluttered past, it occurred to me I've seen very few, same with dragonflies which are / were very common round here.

I haven't seen any dragonflies in our pond this year and only a couple of damsel flies. Our pond is a bit overgrown but I haven't seen many flying around here .

Nice to see the ladybirds on our runner bean plants as there is quite a lot of black fly on them

No picture unfortunately as they're too skittish, but we've got a three legged squirrel coming to the peanut feeder in the front garden. There's a big and very obviously male squirrel that comes regularly but also a smaller, scruffy looking thing which I noticed on Sunday has only one back leg! Just a small furry stump remaining of the right leg. She seems to manage OK though. Just shows how resilient nature is.

Plenty of deer about, and they are frequent visitors during the night* but it‘s unusual for them to come during the day, possibly something to do with them knowing there’s a lurcher living here which would give chase. There are Sika deer about but this is a young Roe, I think. Anyone able to confirm?

*come down in the morning to find the shrubs and flowers have been eaten. Grrrr!
