Couple days off, went across town (Peterborough) to buy some carpets, spotted a Red Kite right over the old part of the city. On the way back home, saw two more, both on the verges of the city.
Nothing remarkable, they're very well established here, but 20 years ago, they hadn't even reached the verges of the city, rather better established in the Rutland area, slowly spreading inexorably East, slowly towards, now over and beyond the city.

Buzzards aren't quite an everyday bird here in suburban Nottingham - maybe one or two a week spotted flying over our garden, so whenever I hear that familiar mewing call, I stop what I'm doing and look to the skies. This morning, while removing some fox poo from the lawn (the trailcam caught her in the act!), I spent a couple of minutes fruitlessly scanning the heavens before I realised the sound was coming from one of the Starlings perched on next door's TV aerial. Brilliant mimics, aren't they!

(Temperature reading is consistently high on this trailcam for some reason - was more like 10 C)

We made regular checks the other afternoon for a Curlew but it was a Starling on top of the old lighthouse.
